Hi, I've got a problem with my itunes on my vista. Somehow or another it won't let me burn any of my playlists to cd. Everytime I log into it, it says
'The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.'
Well, I don't what other installed cd software its talking about. But anyway, it still it able to burn discs onto itunes, so i know that the cd rom's still working. I followed itunes help instructions which first suggested to click repair in the control panel (which i did and it did nothing!) or uninstall and reinstall itunes.
Now I mind having to do all this but, what I didn't know is if by uninstalling it I will also lose all my saved music and videos in itunes, which I want to avoid.
Can anyone advise me if this will happen, or any other suggestions on what I can do? Much appreciated

Do you have Nero or Nero Express installed on this computer? It sounds like itunes is having some sort of conflict to me. Also what sort of computer is it, what version of Vista, any service packs (Windows key + Pause/Break key), and what kind of Antivirus software are you running?

No I don't have Nero, It's a Windows Vista Laptop (dunno model no.), and the antivirus I'm using is Norton. I think I found the answer that it's something to do with the CD Rom burning, as I tried to to a data backup but it wouldn't allow me. So I've sent it back to the merchants (John Lewis) and they've taken it to hopefully repair/replace the cd rom drive.
So from there all I think I'll have to do is reinstall itunes, but does anyone know if I'll lose my music files made through itunes if I do?
PS: Cheers for replying Metamorphical!

Now I'm having trouble with iTunes as well. I recently upgraded my computer to a MacBook Pro running OS X Sierra. I have the latest iTunes, version 12.6.2.20, and man oh man is it confusing. I copied all of my music to the music folder on my new computer, and I was getting ready to recreate my playlists from scratch, but the library is a complete nightmare! There are all the songs my dad downloaded from iTunes (he used my ID so I have access to it), but I don't want any of them at all! If I delete those songs from my library, will it delete them from the cloud and then my dad will lose them off his computer? Because while we share some taste, a vast majority of these songs I have absolutely no interest in. But I'm afraid of deleting them in case he'll lose them as well.
Also, another complaint, I was hoping iTunes would just see the old songs I copied over, but I guess because I did it manually it didn't work, so now I have to open each song in iTunes to add it to my library, which is a pain, but I suppose an inevitable one.
