While never a fan of Jackson, his contributions to music were without doubt superb. Thriller and Smooth Criminal...just wow.
As for his death, it didn't come as a surprise for me. As far as I'm concerned, the guy was just worn out from all the health, personal, financial and stress retaliated issues he's had over the years. His death stills comes as a shock seeing how he was only 50. This moments is to our generation what the death of Elvis Presley was to our parents. The passing of a icon.
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson
On the plus side, Michael can come back as a zombie to remake the Thriller music video.

I just found out about it at Yahoo News just minutes ago. To be honest, I was quite shocked to hear that he's dead. I never expected that would happen to him. Although I've never been a fan of him, I still enjoy his performance in "Thriller". Michael Jackson's last years seemed to be very troubled, but at least he's now gotten rid of them. He will be forever missed.

I actually heard about this while I was at work tonight, and even now I find it hard to believe that MJ is gone, on the same day as Farrah Fawcett too! Funny thing was, I was actually looking him up last night on the web too! To me he appeared to be one of those people who you though was immortal in so many ways. True he did have his problems and accusations, but he'll always be remembered for producing great music! I remember first being exposed to him in 1993 for his song, "Will you Be There" From 'Free Willy' (I'm listening to this song first right now in my tribute). Back then I thought he was a woman , and even then I thought he had something special in his voice. A decade later I began listening to his other songs, even buying the remastered edition of "Thriller" (Again in my tribute) and the witnessed his second trail all throughout 2003-2005. True he wasn't the most perfect in regards to personal life (and his looks), but he definitely had something special that will be missed for a long time to come. RIP Michael Jackson August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009. NOTE: I still have my old Thomas video I made to MJ's "Thriller" back in 2006 that I'll be re-posting in the Production Suite Thread for anyone who's interested. I feel that it's important to honor Michael for giving the world such great songs.

I just found out a few hours ago. My first impulse was to laugh, but that was quickly stifled by the enormity of it. The man who brought us Thriller, who brought us Beat It, who brought us so much amazing music, is dead. No matter how he was in later years, the point remains: A truly massive soul has departed. Rest in Peace, thou mighty presence.

I heard on the way into work this morning that he'd had a heart attack, found out he'd not made in when I got to the office about 30 minutes later. It's a bit weird, hasn't really sunk in yet. Dead? Really? Wow. Anyway, much respect to him for the quality of music he did bring out, one of the more influential artists of the last 30 years definitely. On the plus side, Michael can come back as a zombie to remake the Thriller music video. Is it wrong that this was one of the first things I thought of when I found out as well?

Funny thing was, I was actually looking him up last night on the web too! If you think thats weird, I was watching a TV show today (The Wayans Bros. for anyone who would know them - I never even watched them till today since I was watching something else on that channel earlier and stopped paying attention to it, which makes this even weirder) and one of the bros took a crack at MJ for being a child molester. Hours later I foind out hes dead....creepy. PS just took make you guys even more creeped out - it's been exactly one year and 3 days since the passing of George Carlin... The month of June is not looking good for iconic celebs these days are they?

I'm still kinda shocked that Michael Jackson has passed away. I first heard about it at work, where a radio station has been playing many of his songs. Some of my favorite songs by Michael Jackson were played, including "Will You Be There" from Free Willy.

It was pretty shocking. I was driving in my car listening to the radio and the new came in that he was in the hospital and they started playing a marathon of his music. My mother and I kept listening to the radio to hear the updates and right when we got home they confirmed his death. It's really sad that he died so young (50 can be young to some people). I am very honored that he faved my Thriller Video (which has almost 1.5 million hits) on youtube. RIP Michael Jackson hope you moonwalked straight through the gates.

I am utterly shocked over Michael's death. I was woken up by my sister at 7:10 am and she said that Michael had died, I went "WHAT?!", I didn't believe her. So I rushed downstairs to my living room, watched GMTV and then, I just couldn't believe it.
I am so shocked, he was one of my idol's, I loved his moves, his music, and his recent generousity to do UK Tours.
Michael Jackson is such a true legend, it is so sad that he is gone.
Everyone now respects him, his music and his life, lives on.....
Michael Jackson - 1958-2009 - Aged 50 - Rest In Peace.

When I woke up this morning my mother told me that he passed away. Quite shocking really. I'm not a huge fan but he definetly had the talent over the years.
R.I.P Michael Jackson

I'd just like to add my condolences too, however I feel this thread has run its course for the moment. We know the time of death, and the causes, and there's not more to add than condolences which will only be read by other forum members here.
I believe there are several MJ groups on Facebook and a few on the major news sites set up for your signatures of condolences.
With that, I am closing the thread, with respect.
