I'm not sure if anyone has talked about this show yet or if it can have its own thread, but just in case it sounds fun and I hope I don't just ramble on.
I thought I would talk about a cartoon that literally changed my life and inspired me what I currently am as an artist.
Its called The Loud House. It is a slice of life animated comedy that airs on Nickelodeon. It has been running since May 2, 2016 and it has caused a ratings surge on the network. Since its airing, it has produced four seasons, with a fifth season currently in production. It also has a spin-off show, called The Casagrandes.
The Loud House is about a family of eleven children. It mostly centers on the only boy in the family, Lincoln Loud, though some episodes, and even more recent, have centered on his sisters as well. Yes, Lincoln has ten sisters, who all have a story to tell and show different parts of Lincoln's personality. Lincoln talks to the viewers while he survives a huge family. His sisters all have unique personalities: Lori is literally the oldest and the bossiest; Leni is ditzy; Luna loves music; Luan is silly; Lynn loves sports; Lucy is a goth; Lana is messy; Lola loves beauty; Lisa is the smartest; and Lily is the baby.
I have given this show a lot of praise. The show has demonstrated how people can be themselves without being judged. All the characters on the show represent people who are different in terms of personality, race, and culture. They have even introduced characters who are LGBT and introduced a character with a disability (I myself have a rare speech disorder and I thought it was a great move to introduce characters with disabilities). As I said before, it has changed my life as a person and an artist. Nickelodeon has shown how the world is changing and more people are opening up. The show has a lot of characters we can all relate to.
My favorite characters on the show are Luna and Lynn. Luna is a very creative girl and is an artist (though she is a musician and I'm a visual artist). She is also very calm, though she does have moments of getting angry and that is normal. Lynn has recently became a character that I can relate to as she has represented how middle school can be a tough time. It was a tough time for me as well and its a no wonder why she is so tough.
I hope the show runs for a while. It currently has a feature film in the works that is going to be released on Netflix in 2021. I met a few creative people (Jordan Koch and Miguel Puga) who worked on The Loud House and The Casagrandes while I was in California in November and they agree that it has to be the best show Nickelodeon has aired. They even said its great because of characters that we can relate to and how the world is changing. Most Nickelodeon shows do not really show that. I loved Nickelodeon my whole life and this is really a show that saved the network (the channel has somewhat gone downhill until recently, but that's just me). I at first didn't think I would like it and didn't want to watch it, but I gave it a chance and the next thing I knew I was binging on it. I would honestly recommend this show. Its heartwarming somewhat and it makes me laugh.
