With all the hype about Dragon Quest XI S coming to the Switch, even having the main character joining the Super Smash Bros roster, I thought it would be a good time to catch up on some of the older games in the series. I've heard that there are a lot of references to the first 3 games in the series (The Loto Trilogy, I believe they are called by fans), so I'm planning on playing through those three before I get XIs.
But right now I'm playing through DQVIII on PS2, after stumbling upon it in a CEX while I was out travlling. I've enjoyed what I've played so far. It has an orchestrated soundtrack, with Koichi Sugiyama conducting the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (I've heard that the 3DS version doesn't this version of music) and together with the British voice cast, it makes me think of old cartoons like The Dreamstone. Though, the funniest thing about it is the fact that the villian the party is in pursuit of, is voiced by non other than Keith Wickham.

I love Dragon Quest XI S on the Switch and is the reason that I like Dragon Quest more than I like Final Fantasy, gonna see if I can snag a copy of Dragon quest VIII for my collection.
