I'm going to try and introduce some new games over the next few weeks to keep this section of the board feeling fresh. Hopefully they will take off. If you'd like to share any ideas you've had for new forum games here, just to test the waters in terms of interest or to get feedback, please do so.

My idea's not really for a new game per se. Rather for a reboot of an old one. It seems to me that no one really posts in the 2, 3 or 4-word story games anymore. It makes sense. After a while, you've gone as far as you can go after so many pages. So maybe we should reboot the 2 and 3-word ones. Cap off and archive the old ones, keep them for prosperity and give players a fresh canvas to paint new and more insane tales.

You are welcome to start new threads for them if you wish, although I would suggest just trying one or the other first to see what the level of interest is like. EDIT 22/11 - In the unlikely event anyone ever wants to re-read them, the old 2 and 3 word stories have been moved to the Sodor Island Museum.

I remember a game from a decade ago on the forum that only lasted briefly but was quite a lot of fun to participate in. It was like an ultimate survival game that was sort of like a tournament mixed with the game show wipeout. I can't remember what it was called, but I'll do my best to try and explain its concept.
Obviously, a number of us put ourselves down to participate in this game. In the first round, everyone was given a set of questions to answer - which at the time was based around Thomas, obviously, and some of the questions included: "How many Storytellers have their been for the Railway Series that hadn't narrated the TV Series?" or "What was the first episode to be filmed for the TV Series?"
Of course, there was a maximum score that you had to get to proceed to the second round like 5 or 6 out of 10. I can't how it all panned out in the end, but I do remember that Ryan or somebody devised the idea initially and that it only lasted one year but was certainly fun to participate in though. Maybe something of that sorts could do with a revival, maybe something that focusses on a certain topic for a monthly basis i.e. First month could be based around the Railway Series and the TV Series, then the Second month be based around TUGS and then something different moving on.
Only a suggestion, and apologises that it was hard to explain as it was 10 years ago or so when this had been devised.

Interesting suggestion, Rusty Red Scrap Iron and quite a throwback! The game was called SiF Survivor and took place over 10 weeks between March and June in 2009. We still have all the old posts archived - looks like D. Hay was the overall winner. Definately has potential for a comeback, although I think some (myself included!) found the rules confusing so perhaps they could be simplified. My other concern is trust. These days answers can so easily be googled, how will we know participants aren't doing that? Will certainly look into bringing this back for a revival, but as it will take a lot of organising, probably best to leave it until the new year.

Understandable, and thanks for the clarification on what it was called - even though its somewhat a late response. But I've just had a thought, and I know it may sound tedious since you do get some trends of themed such as this and I'm not sure if we need another trend but I'll say it anyway. But since the Describe an episode in 5 words game has become fairly popular since its emergence, I was wondering if its worth doing ones of Describing a Railway Series book, unadapted stories including annuals or even one of the 22 seasons. Granted, I know it may essentially be starting another trend of sorts or simply quite pointless, but it was just something that came to me. I would have suggested a TUGS one, but as we all know that there are only so few episodes of TUGS and that it would die out pretty quickly.

As we have done with other games, I think it would fine to stretch the concept of the existing "Describe an Episode" thread to include RWS stories, annual stories etc. Best keep them all under the same umbrella.

I've been thinking of a alternative to the 'What if..?' game, and so how about a 'Why is/does..?' game. Where we simply ask question like: "Why is <something - something>" or "Why is it that <something - something" and "Why does <something - something>". I know it probably also sounds a bit like "Ask A Stupid Question, Get a Stupid Answer", but its just a suggestion that I've been having going through my head for a while now and its often commonly asked in all of life's circumstances.

I just had an idea for a game that was partly inspired by this tweet:
It’s called “Poorly describe a Thomas story”. Basically players take turns describing a Thomas episode or special in a way that people outside the fandom would find confusing or poorly described. For example:
Player 1: Eddie Redmayne costars in a film where a pirate played by John Hurt tries to blow up Thomas.
Player 2: Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure Gordon discovers that the Northwestern Railway is becoming too politically correct, and throws a temper tantrum as a result.
Player 3: Forever and Ever (Series 22)
That’s basically the premise. I know there are similar threads where the object is to guess the title of a specific episode or special, but a quick search couldn’t find anything remotely like this concept. Thoughts?

“Poorly describe a Thomas story” Not sure how I missed it but have only just seen your suggestion. Sounds good! Feel free to set up the thread. On a different note, recently been thinking more about Rusty Red Scrap Iron 's suggestion of bringing back SiF Survivor. Hope to do something with that this year. Watch this space.

Whenever I watch Richard Osman's House of Games, there's a round called It's All In the Name, in which an answer to a question is in the letters to somebody's name.
So I'd thought what about an SiF style one in which an answer to a question has to contain the letters to ones username and obviously if a user has more than one name the answer can't be for example: "The name of the British Band that has Maiden as its second name meaning Torture Device" and the answer being Iron and my username containing that word. But obviously avoid swear word answers and questions and questions don't necessarily have to be Thomas or TUGS related but about anything.

I thought what about 'Battle of the scenes' of which scene we prefer to the other, can be scenes from the same episode or scenes from 2 different episodes of any era, can be the first scene of an episode versus the end scene of a different episode, anything?
I've see on YouTube that all season 1 to 7 episodes are four and a half minutes and after recently watching Dirty Objects and You Can't Win, the close up of an angry James from the former from 1:20 to 1:25 occurs at the exact time when Duke was first angry whilst saying his "Routine maintenance." quote from the latter and so one example would be which of those two scenes. But you could also allow a scene from an episode in season 1 to 7 versus a scene from an episode from beyond Season 8 such as Boco shooeing Bill away versus Thomas first biffing Hector as I think both scenes occur halfway through the episodes. Get it?
