This vaguely triggers memories of a show about a comic..... and each story/section was portrayed as live animation...... or have I got the wrong idea?

With Daisy Dares and Smarty Arty amongst others?
Yeah, I remember watching it when I was younger on CiTV. I quite liked it, but I never knew it was intended for deaf people, given the music, yes, there was no speech, but i thought that was the point of it being a "comic" though......

Well, this has jogged my memory quite a bit; I remember seeing it many times years ago but I don't really recall many characters (Daisy Dares, the Handymen, Smarty Arty and can't recall any other names). I also never knew it was for the deaf. I wonder what happened to it; i think it's been cancelled but i'm not too sure.

Ah, I remember this series. It changed quite a lot in every series, and as far as I know it was cancelled due to bad ratings. The theme tune was dead catchy, too. "Keystone Chaos", I think it's called. Still will be remembered as a good show nonetheless. I wonder if anyone here can name every character that appeared in its eight-year run?

Yush, I remember this show, if only not for Daisy Dares and the Handymen. Some might agree that Daisy Dares was always funnier when her victims got revenge. I remember some hand puppets (literally hands), but I can't remember what they were all about - unless they were "Smarty Arty"?

The hands were the Handy Men. One blue glove, one yellow one.
Smarty Arty was that artist who drew things that came to life.
Dasiy Dares was a challenge that was set up for kids to complete....... I believe it replaced some secret spy challenge? You always knew someone was going to win when "But Then" came up.
There was "What's This", where you had to guess what a distorted/zoomed in picture was.
The only other one I remember was something to do with a bloke called Cuthbert. Think Mr.Bean type sketch, and that's about it.

Cuthbert Lilly, Daisy Dares, Smarty Arty (I thought it was Arty Farty!), The Handymen. There were a few more. They replaced Smerty Arty with a witch in the last series but here's an episode I found on Youtube.
Part 1: Part 2:
I used to watch it all the time.

The only other one I remember was something to do with a bloke called Cuthbert. Think Mr.Bean type sketch, and that's about it. His full name was Cuthbert Lily. Like you said, he had a number of similarites with Mr. Bean. Think he even had a teddy that appeared now and again! This is one of my favourite Cuthbert sketches. In the early episodes before Daisy Dares was a regular they had a character called Tricky Dicky, who dressed as a sort of private detective, but you never saw his face other than his eyes. He did pretty much the same thing as Daisy Dares, setting impossible challenges for kids. And I believe towards the end of the series, they replaced Smart Arty with a character called Minnie the Magician, who's magic was always going wrong.

I remember this, oh aye. Used to love it as a kid. I remembered Daisy Dares, the Hand thingys and even though I can't actually remember anything, the Tricky Dicky rings a bell... Never knew it was for deaf children though. Sort've see the idea now, but I wouldn't have as a kid... ...yeah I was pretty thick back then too y'see.

Wow, there seemed to be a few people who enjoyed it. I can't see how it got bad ratings. Perhaps it was all this character switching?

I absoloutley love this show, Smart Arty was my favourite and I have got two videos of the show, Vol.1 and Vol.3. There are a load of videos and full episodes on these two websites. www.youtube.comwww.video.google.co.ukType in 'Zzzap!' for both websites in the search bar's and memories will be refreshed. Also, a few months ago, The CITV channel aired Season 10, it's not on the channel now but I got an E-mail for CITV saying, 'Thank you for your comments, 'Zzzap!' will return to the CITV channel at the end of spring.''Zzzap' is my favourite show and I love the Puzzle pages, Characters and the Comics. P.S. Visit www.en.wikipedia.org and type in the search bar 'Zzzap' to see loads of info and extras of the show.

I remember ZZZap. I used it watch it on CiTV. Didn't know Tricky Dicky came before Daisy Dares, CiTV must have been airing reruns when I saw his episodes.
I also remember there was this episode of Art Attack where Neil Buchannan did the artist for his big art attack halfway through the show. "Does'nt he look familiar?" he said to the audience, and parodied the kiss he did after he'd done an artwork. What was also funny, was that Neil Buchanan played the role of the artist :-D

I saw this as a kid too, though I havn't seen the newer show. Smart Arty was my favourite as he drew things that come to life. Did you know his theme is Boccherini - Minuet? I only have 1 video of it which is the Wildest ever Zzzap! video that I bought on ebay, but I plan to get the others when the time is right as my parents don't like it when I waste money.

I used to watch it quite alot when it was on CITV. It had a load of funny sketchs in it like the artist ones and Daisy Dares which were funny, I can't clearly remember what else was featured in this show.

I wonder if anyone here can name every character that appeared in its eight-year run? I can Christopher, even the cast members and how long each characters stayed for the series, in order of their apperances in episodes. Series 1Cuthbert Lilly - Richard Waites Smart Arty - Neil Buchanan The Handymen - Sarah Pickthall Tricky Dicky - Richard Waites (Again!) Series 2 - 7Daisy Dares replaced Tricky Dicky because Richard Waites was tired of playing two characters. The Boat square was replaced by a Zig Zag square and the backdrop which was supposedly set in the night sky, was now set in a daylight sky and the routes to the character's squares on the comic, would now start from a full shot of the comic, as Series 1 would start from alternative angles. And this was also the first series to have proper titles, with the music of 'Keystone Chaos', composed by Ron Aspery. Cuthbert Lilly - Richard Waites Smart Arty - Neil Buchanan The Handymen - Sarah Pickthall Daisy Dares - Deborah McCallum Series 8 - 9Each characters from these two penultimate series, would have the characters start in different orders and the Eye was now a puzzle page. The Clown and the Zig Zag squares were replaced by two new puzzle pages, Dot to Dot and Eyes in Leaves and Minnie The Mini Magician, played by Doctor Who's, Sophie Aldred, replaced Smart Arty because they thought that the programme needed some refreshing. Cuthbert Lilly - Richard Waites Minnie The Mini Magician - Sophie Aldred The Handymen - Sarah Pickthall Daisy Dares - Deborah McCallum (Series 8), then, Clare Macaulay (Series 9 -) Series TenSeries Ten was the final series due to bad ratings and format changes, also, the giant comic set was scrapped, but bought by a farmer in Norfolk because his son was a big fan of ZZZap!, so, the comic set was replaced by Computer animated squares floating. Cuthbert Lilly - Richard Waites Minnie The Mini Magician - Sophie Aldred The Handymen - Sarah Pickthall Daisy Dares - Clare Macaulay

ZZZap! was also a show by HiT who also do the shows we know and love Thomas & Friends and Fireman Sam. If they were able to bring Sir Handel back to Thomas, then maybe they could bring ZZZap! onto DVD for the viewers. It was a very popular show and I see no reason for why it shouldn't be on DVD. 10 series has got to mean that it was doing something right. In my opinion it went downhill in Series 10. The writing was still the same and it was still funny, but the format was rubbish. They shouldn't have scrapped the comic.

I am sorry to say this, (I keep hearing it though), but they will not be any DVD's of ZZZap!, even the earlier series on TV, apart from that I emailed ITV about ZZZap! reruns, and I got the reply saying that ''Thank you for your comment, ZZZap! will be back on the CITV channel through the summer''.
Although the dates are unknown and finally, ZZZap! cant have the earlier serieson CITV because of that all the episodes are in HIT Entertainment's deep storage.
But he only good thing about ZZZap! right now is that, they keep doing reruns of Series 10, which is good as it could refresh your memory, but no earlier series to come, I will tell you all when the dates will be confirmed of the tenth series being shown on the CITV Channel.
