I love footy too and the best thing about this world cup is England, America and Australia are all taking part so all of SIF's footy fans can get invloved with this thread. I wish all three of those teams the best of luck and hope they do well.
I think Brazil will win it, I don't know who will be runners up.

Official Footy Nut Is In Da Thread I personally wouldn't be pleased with the England win that much, from what I heard, they played not that well, considerin' that Paraguay should've been walkovers and the ball being light yadda-yadda-yadda. Trinidad and Tobago drew though against Sweden, so I'm happy

Personally, I'm going to be cheering on Argentina in the World Cup. Mainly because I wanted to cheer on a UK team other than England, but sadly none of the others made it. I would have supported Ireland or Wales in the cup if they'd have made it, but seeing as I have money on Argentina to win it, I'll go with them!

Nah, just Skarloey. I'm not too interested in it myself, but I've got a friend who's obsessing over it. He's rooting for China, which just might be because he's Chinese.

A good win for Austrailia. They did well to win after being 1-0 down. Good luck to them in the next match. They'll need it as they're playing Brazil.
England V Sweeden will be a good match to watch. I can't wait for that.

I think the main point that Skarloey was trying to drive across was that The World Cup isn't as big a deal in America as it is in the UK and across the rest of the world.
To us it's like THE major event of every four years, where everyone is forced to live, breathe and eat football for the duration of the tournament. Scotland fans are currently hating it with the amount of unofficial World Cup anthems being released and flooding our airwaves; Mars Bars have changed their name to "Believe" bars in the hopes that England will repeat the success of 1966, and every commentary on the television when England play will in some way relate to 1966 again!

Aye, we get the same in Wales Ryan. I can't personally see England winning it this year. I mean, Sven's messed up with his selection. I don't go into why as it is too bleedin' obvoius, but I think the Paraguay game didn't help confidence wise.

As much as it goes against what I said in the 'chatter' thread, Australia deserved to win last nights game. They were the better team throughout; only thing is that now I'm gonna have to hear a lot about it at school. Aaaah well, as long as they don't get further than England....

AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!
;D
*shameless bandwagon jumper*
To be honest, I'm not that fussed about the WC. Much more concerned with AFL because I've been following Carlton for years, not Australia for minutes. Still, always good to get a win. Now for Brazil...

You may have all have heard that England are now out of the World Cup as we got beaten last night by Portugal at Penalty Shoot Out. I hope the USA are still in the World Cup, you may have a chance of winning. I never knew that if you draw during the match you get an extra time of 30 minutes after Full Time.
I think either USA will win or Italy will win.

USA got knocked out in the group stage. Italy are still in it. They play Germany next. France play Portugal. I think France are worthy to be world cup winners as they beat Brazil. Italy and Germany should be a good match to watch.

So, Italy beat Germany and France now play Portugal. None of the three teams are particular favourites, but the Portugeuse and Italians see no other way to play than cheat, it's in their nature, so I'll be singing La Marseillaise. In other words, I'm supporting France.
