As the Power Rangers thread is really aimed at Power Rangers in general I thought I would open this one to allow that one to stay on track as a general thread.
For the first time I have seen a Super Sentai series from start to finish and not at any point wanted to stop watching it because it seemed stupid. The characters were well developed and it had a concept that seemed pretty original. With the Boukenger working for SGS a Government organisation of treasure hunters who collect dangerous treasures (precious) and put them into safe keeping.
Operation Overdrive from what I can make out is a Bruce Wayne's Batman type organisation that hunt treasure for their own benefit. Which for me is the first own goal by Disney, secondly they are a bunch of average teenagers again. The Boukengers all had histories in their own field before joining with the exception of yellow, who's history came into its own about half way through. For now I'll say I prefer Boukenger based on the concept alone, but I wont vote on it as there is pleanty of PROO to improve. However the one character I was really looking forward to seeing being put straight into PROO is the biggest letdown for me, for those who know what I'm on about I'll say one word only; "ZUBAAN!"

Boukenger for me. Although OO does look like an improvement from the days of Mystic Force, I can't stand the opening music. They should have had something like this. Edit: Found proper link.

I'd love to have seen a theme like that make a return, especially as it is based on GoGo Sentai Boukenger, but we are talking about a series that is basically a Salty's Lighthouse that has been a success rather than a complete faliure.

I've just seen the Ranger Roll call from Operation Overdrive and well quite frankly, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Although they did away with the daft pose from Natsuki for "The Strong Adventurer," and they are still adventurers but surely they could have just translated it! Operation Overdrive, first Roll Call; Boukenger Full Roll Call & Henshin This was the only roll call with the Henshin too otherwise I would have used an earlier one. I know which one my favorite roll call is and I really want to vote for Boukenger as my favorite, but I'll have to wait. If only Disney spent as much time and money on the music as Ban Dai do, I knew watching Boukenger would ruin Power Rangers for me, lol. [says over and over in zombie voice; "must give overdrive chance"]
#Edit, The unveiling of the Battlized Red Ranger for Operation Overdrive has pushed me over the edge. Power Rangers isn't about the story, its about selling toys and making money for Disney, by creating original toys that the Japanese can't take royalties on. henshinjustice.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/Image1.jpgSo much for Zubaan and the Lemurian Civilization!
I have found the best two episodes to compare; Boukenger Task 21- Unchiicle's Mallet Operation Overdrive 16- Just Like Me

watching boukenger and operation overdrive confirmed it for me that boukenger is superior. Boukenger has perhaps some of the best storylines in all sentai, and operation overdrive missed an oportunity to follow suit.

Maybe, but then wouldn't fans accuse it of being too much like the Japanese counterpart. I've seen that happen with PRWF (but oddly not PRTF. I wonder why) Anyhow, my thoughts on the recent episode of PROO. Spoilers ahead: Mack being an android just opens a can of worms. If Mack was an android all along, then how is it he was able to be put through the DNA altering thingy

I was wanting a discussion like this... Operation Overdrive...IS good, it's a step up. The Once a Ranger episodes were beautifully done and well casted. Spencer is one of the funniest characters ever! But Boukenger still has the cake for me, just because of the "recent episode". BASICALLY... Macks an android, and Kalish (Producer) obviouslly thought we should plow through a bevy of monsters... NOTE: Cranky4565 is a MASTER of power ranger and super sentai monsters. Got a question? Ask. So, the list: Computer Monster/Mamorigami A monster made from a supercomputer in boukenger. Made fron a simple one in Overdrive. Grown, killed, the usual. Random Monster 1/The Prince Basically, he had an episode in Boukenger, Had to do with the glass slipper precious. Now reduced to a random being, created by Kamdor. Random Monster 2/Mogari Right so, Mogari was a ancient being wo helped Gaijia, capturing Pink and Yellow. (Flurious is Gaija here, sorta). Now, a random. Random Monster 3/Golem A golem who helped Gaija (becuase he was being controlled.) Sort of a clay robot, doing what it's told. Another Precious monster made by Kamdor. Random Monster 4/Super Shizuka A beefed up form of Shizuka from Boukenger. A big fight as well. To bad she went random, could have been a form for Miratrix. Random Monster 5/Akutagami (Dark Shadow Garbage Tsukogami) A monster who was made by mistake in Boukenger, and became friends with silver. At least he was made by the right group. So, the computer monster fights at the start of the OO episode, then the 5 randoms fight alongside Miratrix in the end. It's sad too because Dark Shadow/Kamdor and Miratrix only have one monster (Sentai wise) left the can use. Gaija/Flurious still has a few, and Moltor/Ryouwann only has 2 left. Sad.

PROO Spoiler below I just can't be bothered with the hiding it bit.
Did anyone notice anything that could build up to Mack being a Robot before the actual episode that he was revealed as one? The whole point of Natsuki being a Boukenger was to find out who she was so it was obvious that there would be something there. Her Naieve personality, childish characteristics are explained later on although with Mac the only thing that could move onto this was his lack of anything to do besides reading adventure books and his super strength. The super strenght however came from his genetic enhancements which was probably a limiting software program that was changed, so why doesn't he have super hearing?
I just watched "Out of Luck" again and noticed a slight reference to the big storyline although surely if he was an andriod his sensors would pick up everything he tripped over!
