I'm Batman... Well, not really, but he IS a great character. The first I ever heard about Batman was the movie based off the 60's series. While questionable by today's standards, this incarnation is what brought Batman into the pop culture, and I would gladly watch it today if I got the change (too bad the show's on 6AM weekends on Fox Classics...) Now, the 90's Animated Series. I'll go on the record right now and say that I used to have a deathly fear of this show. I blame the dark setting; just look at this and tell me you wouldn't have cowered in fright. But hey, that's what Batman's all about, with a sense of maturity unparalleled by any other animated show, so now I'd love to see it again! As soon as I get the money, I'll purchase the first season on DVD...if I can find it. Now I'll share my thoughts on the films. Batman was enjoyable; Batman Returns was plain weird; Batman Forever was enjoyable although trippy; Batman & Robin... ; Batman Begins was a bit incoherent, but good; The Dark Knight was superb, BUT I do think that Mr. Bale's Batman sounds like he has a smoking problem. Now here's an idea that led me to this thread. What do you guys think about discussing Batman's Rogues Gallery, who's insane and who isn't? They can't all stay in Arkham Asylum.

I think they're all insane to be honest. The 90's cartoon was the best Batman series ever as it had all the villans in. I got Lego Batman for christmas and that's a good game. You get to play as the villans who each have their own ability
I'm still wondering who will be the villans in the next Batman movie. Rumours say Riddler and Catwomen. I'd like to see Joker again so they can intorduce Harley Quinn.

I'm hoping for Penguin, though they'll probably freakify him like the Joker and 2 Face.

Well, The Riddler is the biggest rumor going right now. I'd love too see a version of Mr. Freeze or a decent showing of Bane.

TBH, Lego Batman is what got me back into Batman; it has a nostalgic side to it and captures the franchise's true essense perfectly (even though it's Lego ). Regarding the next Batman film, I think it would be difficult to top The Dark Knight, but worth a try. I'm all for trying The Riddler (his appearence in The Batman is just, well, queer ) I also read somewhere that The Penguin would be tricky to characterise. Sure, they did a great job in Batman Returns, but it would be hard to portray him realistically. By the way, I think the Penguin is NOT insane. I'm no psychology student, but still...The Riddler? Cockoo!

I, personally, am in love with the animated series, both the original and the New Batman Adventures. Everything about those shows were so great, especially Batman's voice, supplied by Kevin Conroy, which is the definitive Batman voice, in my opinion. However, I also really like the original series, with its zany antics and hilarious depictions of violence, I can't help but like it. In fact, Batman: The Movie, which was based off the show, is a personal favorite batman movie of mine. Now, as to who will be the new villain, I think Riddler will probably be it. However, if they do use the Riddler, I hope he'll be a serious and dark character as the Joker was treated. I read on Wikipedia that the Riddler left clues in some of the comics because he was OCD and simply had to give clues, which is an idea I hope they turn serious. However, noting the previous two movies made, I think we won't have to worry about making it serious. In that sense though, I wonder how they would accomplish a character like Mr. Freeze? I mean, the whole idea of a man who has to live at sub-zero temperatures to survive is pretty wacky, so the idea of making that more serious and realistic borders somewhere between really creepy and flat-out not possible.

I can't see Man-Bat being in Nolan Batman movie. It has a gangster feel to them now and Man-Bat wouldn't make any sence.
Killer Croc could work as long as they make him a thug

Killer Croc would be awesome. I remember his character being a robber with a skin disease that had some lackeys help him rob banks. Another villan I wouldn't mind seeing would be Harley Quin...
However, above all I would like to see more of Scarecrow, he needs more to his actually scarecrow persona, not Johnathon Crane...

I first saw Batman originally when Cartoon Network shows some bumper clips for the Animated Series. Then, when I was older,I started watching superhero shows like Danny Phantom,Static Shock, and Spider-Man:The Animated Series,I started watching that show too and it was good. Then in 2006,I started watching the 1989 Tim Burton film and the 2005 film on TV.They're both great! Then, in 2008,I started watching the sequel to Tim Burton's Batman film and it was good too. Then, when 2009 begin, I started watching 60s show and it good and funny!Overall,I like Batman.

An army of 300 rise up against insurmountable odds...to do a text review! People me tell I'd make a good reviewer, but I have difficulty using the right words. I'll give it a shot anyway... A long time ago, I feared this show, on the grounds that it was too dark and scary for me, but I now appreciate that as an underlying theme to undoubtedly one of the most epic TV shows of all time. I'm referring, of course, to I recently got Volume 1 on DVD (unfortunately the only volume out of four to released in Australia), and watched all 28 episodes over a course of seven weeks; some with beer in hand, some with my brother and his ladyfriend (the former having watched it when it was on weekday afternoons), and I can honestly sat that it's a mixed bag. In terms of story, most of the episodes are very intelligent and engaging, unlike... ...but a few seem questionable. For example, some ep's give the allusion that Bruce Wayne always has the BatSuit on, such as in Prophecy Of Doom when he's stuck in an elevator and uses a grapple to fly out. Who does he think he is, Superman? And besides, it must be uncomfortable. Also, if Batman is a 'creature of the night,' why would he confront The Clock King as three in the afternoon? Plus, the use of Robin was a bit confusing, not to mention out-of-place. He's a good aid, but I personally prefer seeing Batman work alone. But it's hard to nitpick on this show's faults, so... Both Two-Face ep's I thought were nice, definitely a better origin than The Dark Knight. What? What are you looking at me like that for? My brother once said that for every five ep's, there are about four s**tty ones, though I say it's something to do with the low-key enemies used. But I say a majority are top notch writing. Now design; Back in the early 90's, the Animated Series pushed the borders of cartoon shows (though it technically is, I find calling it a cartoon blasphemous) and it did so specularly. While I once cowered from it, I now think it's looks great, bar some static shots, but I'll overlook that. You see my avatar? Dark and stylish, like The Animated Series. Oh yeah, the characters look good too. All I can say about Poison Ivy is...DAMN! I can't believe I just said that...Regarding presentation, it sounds like no other no other show before or after. While I didn't pay much attention to the music, it's attempt to emulate the style of a cinematic score is noble and pays off really well. And the voice acting? My god, Mr. Hamill's Joker is damn funny. Forget Luke Skywalker, this is the best act of his career! Anyway, I read somewhere that the acting was done like a radio play, but then again, I'm sure all animated shows nowadays are done this way, so I can't add to that. It's entertaining at least. So there you go; my views on The Animated Series (or at least the first season); it's very entertaining, and despite it's minor flaws, it holds up really well. So all that's left to say is... I'm Batman. *jumps off side of building, yet survives*

All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to insanity...
I was thinking about buying Frank Miller's The Dark Returns the other day. I've only heard praise, and my money may as well have been spent already! Now I'm wondering what any fellow Batmaniacs have to say on the subject!

Read Killing Joke but not The Dark Returns. I've heard that this upcoming Batman/Superman film will be based on it. The cartoon is out there if you fancy getting a copy.
Anyway speaking of Batman, I'm all prepared for Arkham Knight. I know for a fact this is going to be epic.

Batman is my favourite super hero of all time, more so than Superman or Spider-Man, I really enjoyed Nolan's trilogy of films & the 2 Tim Burton ones & also own the 1966 TV Series on Blu Ray, have watched all of Season 1 & most of Season 2, but I seem to remember the 2nd & 3rd being not as good, Season 1 was always the best.
The 1992-95 Batman Animated Series is very good too, I have the first 2 Seasons on UK DVD, but sadly the rest were never released over here, in the USA you can get every other season.
Last year when I attended the London Film & Comic Con on a very hot July day, I saw the 1966 & 1989 Batmobiles on display, the 1966 car is my fave, still love all the gadgets with Bat labels such as Bat Shark Repellant, Bat Radio, Bat Radar, etc.
My fave performance I have seen on the screen of a villain would have to be Jack Nicholson as The Joker in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film, but Cesar Romero, Mark Hamill & Heath Ledger were also excellent in that role.
So yes The Joker is my fave villain, then The Penguin.

Thank you, OJ. I find it interesting that Alan Moore himself was not that impressed by The Killing Joke. Frank Miller is without a doubt one of the greatest writers in DC history, so I'm still going with TDKR.

I've recently taken an interest in Suicide Squad. I like the concept of villains being in a special opps team. I know most of them aren't well known villains but a lot of them are well known actors. Glad to see Harley Quinn get her big screen debut (if Batman and Robin hadn't flopped she would have had one by now but bad news Madonna was in frame to play her) but I think they should have done her origin first in a Batman movie first.

Out of all the superheroes from DC Comics that I know off, Batman has always been my favourite because he's the coolest and what's not to love about Batman. I haven't seen all the films made about Batman, but one of my favourites is Batman Forever. I like the darker feel to Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and I do remember the Animated Series but haven't really seen it for some many years until more recently upon stumbling upon Mark Hamill's voice for the Joker.
Also if anyone isn't aware of, Bat in the Sun have done two Super-Power Beat Downs involving Batman. This one is my favourite (along with the recent one involving the Green Power Ranger), and of course there is an alternative ending to it also:

One question I'd like to ask you guys. Has anyone here been watching Gotham? (Batman prequel) If so what do think of it? I know there's some comic book fans who dislike it.
One thing I do dislike about it, is the continuity with the Batman ages such as Riddler being older than Bruce Wayne when the later seemed a bit older than him in Batman forever and Bullock being older than Gordon when it was the other way round in the 90's animated series. Aside from that I have enjoyed it and like seeing the Batman Easter eggs. I think Penguin is the one who steals the show. That was a good version of the character (yes better than Danny De Vito never brought the whole deformed uncivilised person who was abandoned by parents and ended up being raised by penguins) A great actor too and the same for the guy who plays Riddler. I'm looking forward to series 2 already.

I'm not sure why no one has posted this here yet, but I think people should see this just for how dark and well animated it is. Here's The Batman short film to promote DC's new ''gods & Monsters'' movie. For those who aren't in the know, &M is set in a darker alternate universe where the son of Zod is Superman, Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat) is Batman and Wonder Woman is a New God from New Genesis called Bekka. With that out of the way, here is the short introducing the Batman of this new universe called, "Twisted". Made by Bruce Timm of the DCAU.
