This is a fairly good movie I saw in school today. It's about a group of 25 young military cadets that end up getting stranded on and Island. There is two leaders. Ralph, the eager good leader. And Jack, the Hunter. Ralph starts a small civilization, and Jack creates a barbaric group of kid killers. Anyone seen it?

I've seen the US version of the film.
But I highly suggest you read the book, as well. You get to see amazing character development and rivalries developed between Jack and his group against Ralph, Piggy, Samneric, and their band of kids.
Plus, the ending's somewhat got action in it.

I had to read the book for school, and it was one of the few required reading books that I didn't hate. It's a scary thought, but thats would could truley happen to humans

I've seen it, and read the book. Must say it was good in some spots, but in several I found it a bit tedious.

My World Literature class read that book last year, I've seen the 1990 movie a few months ago. The story has a deep meaning, which shows that savage still exists in humans.

I love the book, but the movie is terrible. I'm great at doing voice impersonations of Piggy and Ralph from the 60's version. ;D

I've done 'Lord Of The Flies' for Year 10 English last year. It was OK, but I guess it was just another 'Lost'-style story. The one thing I don't get was why boys on a field-trip were in a plane-crash in the first place!

How the boys end up on the island doesn't really matter- they're totally isolated from whatever life they had before (and it's not specified what that was in the book). You never see them outside of the island, even after the rescue. The entire focus of the story is the period when they're removed from civilisation.
I think it's a little unfair to call it a 'Lost' type story, since it predates that series by several decades...
I've read the book, but never seen any of the movie, TV or stage versions.

Has anyone seen the balck and white version of the movie. You don't get to see the pig head talking to the boy (I forgot his name).
Anyway, shouldn't this be in "Books"?

i seen the 1963 version where they all are from catolic and private schools. but in the 1990 version which i have not seen but bits and pieces jack was more of an a** and piggy's death was more gorry. reminds me of my school cause its all boys which mine is and they act like this with the cursing and the beating. but i like the newer version a little better.

God, I remember seeing the 1990 version of this film when I was in Year 9. Christ, what a depressing film!

I've read the book and seen parts of both movies. As a matter of fact, I gotta read it again for one of my classes in college. One of the most interesting stories I've ever seen. Does an awesome job of showing what happens when reason is disregarded and our inner animals take over. Jack is awesome too, one of my favorite charactes in any book I've read.

I read Lord of the Flies back in tenth grade. I liked how Ralph attempted to organize the group, and then Jack and the others in the choir broke away and made their own troupe. I also watched the 1963 movie, and the scene where Ralph finds the skull was chilling.

I read the very same book last year for my Rebeliion and Conformity in Literature class. A pretty interesting book. I never saw the movie because my teacher insisted it was a disgrace to the book. However, we did the Simpsons episode that was based on Lord of the Flies though.
