Hello All,
Sometimes I find it’s fun to play archaeologist and dig into the older sections of SIF that rarely see the light of day. I thought it would be a fun idea to turn those occasional digging sessions into a game that could help newer SIF members familiarize themselves with the old SIF.
-The idea of the game is that a user will select a specific post that other members will have to search for on the forum.
-The searching members will be guided by clues provided by the user who selected the post. -If a searching member believes he or she has found the correct post, they will quote or link it here to see if it is the correct one.
-The game is over once the correct post is quoted and a new round will start.
Happy Hunting!
(additional rules) - Please start a new mystery post with a minimum of three clues - Don't select your own posts for others to search - Provide additional clues if the user has quoted the wrong post - If the thread is inactive for say a week or two, update your post with a new clue. Just copy your post, delete it and re-post it then it'll show up as a "new" post.
(Feel free to make any suggestions)

Sounds like a fun idea for a game. I enjoy browsing through old posts and exploring the forum from time to time and I think this game might have legs. For the post you're thinking of I might need some more specific clues but this piece of artwork that Le Bateau à Voile posted as part of their fanfiction Fools Like Us matches what you've written. At long last! I've finally finished the coloured version of Jimmy. Jimmy is Charlotte's car, a very haughty, capricious fellow with a taste for stirring up trouble. He enjoys teasing engines, and never passes up a chance to remind them just how much humans love automobiles more than locomotives. He's had a history of being involved with some rather crooked characters before coming into Charlotte's possession, and it sort of rubbed off on him. Charlotte received Jimmy as a gift from one of her father's friends after his passing, and the two have been partners in crime ever since.

How would this be as a new rule? Every time an incorrect post is quoted, an additional clue is provided to help narrow it down.
What do you think the minimum number of clues for every new mystery post should be?

I think three is a good number of clues, and adding more clues when someone makes an incorrect guess seems fair.

Not participating, but can I just say, this is one of the best new game ideas we've had, and should help people familiarise themselves with the forums - well done Looney Conductor!

{Spoiler}I had a very fun day photographing the Ravenglass and Eskdale in October of 2013 for this. Also supplied the scale drawings and dimensions for the Small Engines. So that's my contribution. Along with an archive of material from our previous trips. Yes - ARC have a SiF Meet Video from 2008 as a reference guide.
There's a lot to look forward to with this one. They're pulling out all the stops to make it an amazing tribute to the Awdry legacy.

Looney Conductor, I'd perhaps recommend that we establish that members cannot select their own posts to have others search for, as a rule for the game. I also enjoy browsing around older posts. Hoping I'll get one right so I can have a go at this myself...

Okay... I think I've got a good one!
Edit: I've added the "2009" part to make it easier to find... Without it, I found the search function couldn't find the post in question. Why? Maybe a ProBoards limitation? I don't know!

MAGIC RAILROAD FANS AND ALL OF SIF!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!!!!!! ITS PT BOOMER!!!!!!!! OK.i think its safe to say that this is a true holy grail among Thomas fans. and this is just an idea, but if this scene is on the web, who's to say the other missing scenes arnt on-line with it? *AHHHHHHHHHHH!*

I'm quite grateful for the additional clue, Looney Conductor! At first I thought you were talking about an earnest debate going on or something. The image doesn't load for me, but it has to be this post here: OK, I've thought about setting this up for a bit, and this Test Forum seems like an ideal place to give it a trial. If it's not too crazy for Forum Games, feel free to move it there. If it just doesn't take off, I guess it can be scrapped. The idea is quite simple: post a picture or photo that defeats that of the above member. So if I posted a cat, the next person might post a dog and so on. Kinda like a broader game of Rock, Paper, Scissors... Am I right?

You've got it, PercyFan1998! Hmm, wonder if I made that too easy though? You seemed to get it pretty fast. Fun fact: Although the thread number isn't in proper chronological order, the very first post on the forum would nonetheless appear to be the OP of the thread "The story so far...", right here: sodor.proboards.com/post/70075/thread(cool innit? I thought I'd add that in to avoid an otherwise one-line post )

Alright! So after some quick spurious research of the forum. I present this:

Alright! So after some quick spurious research of the forum. I present this: Given the newly added "great and powerful" clue, I think you're referring to the Wizard of Oz. And on that note, regardless of if I'm right or wrong, I'd like to propose a potential new rule: If no one has attempted to make a guess within a certain time period (I'd say about 1-2 weeks since the original post starting the round), than the post should be edited to add a new clue. (Given SiF's rule on double-posting, I'm hesitant to make it be creating a new post with the new clue. I will point out, though, that even if a post is edited, the last updated date for the thread will remain the time that the unedited, original post was initially posted. This could pose a problem if people just look at the last updated date and not the original post itself. Unless an admin approves this as an exception, I'll leave my requested rule at editing the original post.) And now, for my guess: If I'm right, it turns out to be my own post from the TATMR thread, with the debate with what made the movie good/bad. I am American, and I can see what caused some people to say that. But to me, Boomer is what caused the flop. It's like taking the Wicked Witch of the West out of the Wizard of Oz, and then blaming poor writing and poor acting for major flaws in the storyline. Burnett Stone's, Stacy's, and Billy's Twofeathers greatest moments on screen were cut because either it featured Boomer or referenced him. In fact, after reading the script, a majority of the parts that were cut were things that referenced Boomer than those that show his screen time. I am aware that putting Thomas into a magical world doesn't make any sense, but in the script, Diesel 10 wasn't aware of a lost engine, and probably have done the same actions whether Sir Topahm Hatt aka The Fat Controller was there instead of Mr. Conductor. The "magical" aspect took place mostly at Shining Time. As far as I'm concerned, the line "That's what I saw in my dream; it's coming true" was added in the ADR stage. The parts in the script only mention the magic beginning to fade in Shining Time, but all of those were cut because it mentioned Boomer. And I liked the Shining Time sequences equally with the train sequences. You can still argue that trains only take up 1/3 in the final movie and likely 1/4 in the DC, but the only defense I can say to that is a Shining Time movie was originally planned, but probably scrapped. You can look at Rick Siggelkow's interview on the main site for that info. Britt didn't think the movie was good enough, and implemented some similar sequences in TATMR. I fully agree that the title is a bit misleading. I would of called it something with Shining Time Station in it. But to tell you the truth, I wasn't, and still thinking critically now, I wasn't at all deterred by the Shining Time sequences. On a slightly different note, on that canceled STS movie...can anyone confirm if it is in any relation to the development of TATMR? I mean, apart from similar plot sequences, I don't think it had anything to do with TATMR. Schemer was absent, and the only one reprising there roles from Shining Time was Didi Conn as Stacy Jones. I think they were totally different movie proposals that occurred at a similar time. (BTW, I wouldn't chose to answer back with my own post. I just don't want this to be sitting around for too long. Like Ryan said, this is a good game idea that might even be helpful for new members getting used to ProBoards and the forum itself, and, no offense, but I'd hate for it to be buried in the back of the board because of rather ambiguous clues!)

Alright! So after some quick spurious research of the forum. I present this: Only just noticed the "great and powerful" part of that clue, but having seen it I think the "lovely debate" has to be the picture battle: Silly Spy Pony. You're nothing compared to Trixie THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!
