Has anyone seen a trailer for "V for Vendetta"? It looks weird. The comics was by the same guy who did "League of Extroidnary gentlemen". Some might not agree but I enjoyed LXG but I do think its very under rated. Strangly enough I read one comic but I prefered the movie. I saw a few previews for "V". It looks really cool, actually. I love that guy's mask. Then again, I kinda like wierd movies. I think "V" is made by the brothers who did "The Matrix". Wierdness is guarenteed. Has anyone seen "V For Vendetta" yet? I have. It's quite good but there are some plotholes and there was a few things I didn't understand. bobwinkle007, you were right about it going to be wierd. I thought Stephen Fry had a good part in this movie. I hope one day Heathcliff movie will be made. Why not? They made a Garfield movie which I was quite dissapointed by. I prefer Heathcliff to Garfield.

Has anybody ever seen "Weird Science"? I highly recommend it; it's a very funny movie, although not really in the beginning. The main theme played throughout the movie is also really cool. ;D

Yep, saw it a few weeks back. Not a bad film, but a bit predictable.

I only saw a few brief moments of it, but it's a film I would love to see in its entirity. I'm not sure if it's even out on video or DVD.

Who has seen The Secret of Nimh (sp)? I thought those were great movies, though the sequel reeked of Disney. -_-; Still good, though.

I have, and yes the 2nd does reak of Disney, and the 1st is more dark and more classical, with a bit of realism (the death of John Prisbey and the cruelty of NIMH). Yeah I remember that movie, that was good

Does anyone enjoy Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I also love Back to the Future movies, and anything directed by Mel Brooks.

I can understand why Charlie, Willy Wonka, Matilda and the Witches are put into film due to their popularity and so forth. But there is one very undderated book by Roald Dahl (who is my second favourite author to Reverend W.Awdry) that should either have been televised or made into film: The Twits.
It's one hell of a good book, about a horrible couple, who, in the midst of all the dastardly (though funny) pranks they play on each other recieve their comeuppance at the end.

I don't think I have a favourite genre as such. I like "cult" films- movies that are a little offbeat.

Okay, people, I've just seen X-Men: The Last Stand, and it's excellent! Here, for the benefit of many people here present, is the first ever review:
I’d heard some bad rumours about this movie. It had three directors for a start - never a good sign. And it wouldn’t be the first time an excellent movie series has been let down by the third installment (Alien, The Godfather, Star Wars, Terminator…). But the trailer looked really cool, and the cast was impressive. So I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
In the opening scene, in which an incredibly dangerous and scary-looking situation turns out to be a simulation. Can we put a ban on filmmakers using this device, please? Thank you.
Back to the actual story. Well, Worthington Labs has developed an exciting new vaccine that basically stops people from being mutants. It’s a good idea not to get too scientific during an X-Men film, and people certainly won’t thank you for screaming, “But DNA doesn’t work like that!” in the middle of the film. They certainly didn’t thank me. I digress.
The mutant community is divided on the issue of the vaccine, with some seeing it as a way of fitting in at last and some seeing it as extermination by any other name. Magneto, who’s kinda like the Malcolm X-Man of mutants, declares war on normal humans. Meanwhile, Beast (aka Dr Hank McCoy) has been made the ambassador for mutantkind and seeks a peaceful solution, with the help of Professor X. Jean Grey turns out not to have died after all, but if you’ve seen the trailers you know that anyway, and has been taken over by her subconscious in the form of the messed-up Phoenix. If the last movie was about Wolverine, this one is about Jean Grey. Anyway, here’s a rundown on the new mutants that appear:
BEAST – Kelsey Grammar is actually extremely good in this role, one of the best things about the movie. By the way, I’m not too familiar with the comics, is there any reason why so many of the mutants are blue? His power is that he’s a big blue ape.
SHADOWCAT – The mutant who can walk through walls. Iceman has a bit of a thing for her because he’s not getting any from Rogue. Her full powers aren’t actually explained in the film, but apparently she can absorb energy blasts and walk on air as well.
ANGEL – Really pointless character, does virtually nothing in the film apart from fly around and look pretty. I’m not kidding here, you could cut the character out of the film completely and the plot would not be harmed.
COLOSSUS – Literally hard-as-nails mutant who can turn into metal.
CALLISTO – Slightly annoying goth mutant with super-senses.
HEDGEHOG – I don’t think he’s actually called that, but his name is never mentioned in the film. His power is to make spikes come out of his skin, which is good for some reason. Another goth mutant.
ANDROGYNE – Third of the goth mutants, kills people by clapping at them. Again, this may not be the character’s real name, but he/she wasn’t named in the film or the special leaflet they gave us at the preview.
DUDE WHO CAN MULTIPLY HIMSELF – His power is to be a useful plot device.
SPYKE – Has the ability to get his bone on with Wolverine. Apparently is ripped off from a character named Marrow or something, X-Men continuity rivals the Human Genome Project for complexity.
VINNIE JONES – Actually, this mutant is called Juggernaut, but it’s basically Vinnie Jones playing himself. He is a mutant whose special power is to headbutt his way through walls. And let’s face it, if Vinnie Jones had a mutant power, that’s what it would be. That, or the ability to produce broken bottles at will. If you’re in Britain, everyone in the cinema will cheer when he appears.
EMO – His mutant ability is to get really depressed despite not having any actual problems in his life. I may or may not be making this character up.
As for the rest, Wolverine is still the coolest, Cyclops is still the most boring, Storm actually gets a personality, Pyro is still the weird kid, Magneto amusingly looks exactly like Sir Ian’s character from Coronation Street in one scene (suggesting that Coronation Street and X-Men take place in the same universe), Rogue is sexually frustrated, Nightcrawler is absent.
There’s lots of War on Terror metaphor type stuff, some incredibly awesome and wholly gratuitous special effects and some pretty good character work. It only really falls down at the end, with some truly enormous plot holes and loose ends. As comic book movies go, it’s one of the best and easily matches up to its predecessors. One word of warning- you won’t get it if you haven’t seen the previous installments in the series.
I refuse to end with the word “X-Cellent!!!!”, but there it is if anyone wants to use it on a poster.

Here's a good movie review site -- the main reason it's so good is because it bases its movies on Science. Each review contains a "science moment", claiming why certain parts of films are impossible. As a result, the reviewer(s) enjoys Tremors because nothing is explained at all. Feo Amante's Review SiteIt's where I discovered the Square Cube Law, should you be interested. The Movie Review List

so I'm going to throw this question out there: What's your favorite film type? I have several different favorite genres. But my top favorites would have to be; suspense (Rear Window, Vertigo), transvestite comedy (Some like it Hot, Mrs. Doubtfire), and insane science-fiction movies (2001: A space Odysey, Metropolis). Mostly, I like old classic movies. You just can't beat them.
