Quite surprised a thread about Noddy hasn't been made - so, considering the reboot has launched today, I thought this would be appropriate Here you may talk about Enid Blyton's famous creation.

I recently caught a glimpse of the new episodes and even though the character designs are different and new characters are taking over from the old favourites, I think it does look very appealing to children of the age group it's aimed at. The new voice for Noddy sounds roughly similar to the late Susan Sheridan's and the animation looks impressive too. Will have to give a show a chance before i can give it a proper review of. Noddy's Toyland Adventures by Cosgrove Hall was my first introduction to Noddy and recently last year discovered that it wasn't the studios first take on the stories. The first attempt was jerky but was still a good take on the stories. With the narration of the late Richard Briers, the stories of this little nodding fellow were brought to life. Also if anyone wants to read the original Noddy books online, I find this website very handy indeed. www.scribd.com/doc/60010113/Blyton-Enid-Noddy-1-Noddy-Goes-to-Toyland-1949

My fave Noddy series was the 90's version. The sets were very good( I have an interest in model animation) and so was the voice acting and I enjoyed the stories.
I've heard about Toyland Detective so which old characters aren't in this? Now Noddy is a private investigator where does that leave PC Plod.

I have no idea as I didn't see him in the line up of characters. I'm thinking that the area on which the programme is set could be another part of Toyland where Mr Plod isn't based. In the original books there were more than one policeman in Toyland so having Noddy being assigned to work as a private investigator would be interesting to see. He has solved several mysteries in early volumes and also in the TV series.

Long Answer: Nowhere - everybody apart from Noddy & Big Ears are gone - all replaced by things like fairies and little pandas. Plus Noddy's car is now a character & can fly. I'm not joking. You thought Make Way for Noddy was bad? Trust me, this'd make Enid Blyton spin in her grave. In all seriousness, I don't recommend Googling the trailer. Just go & watch an episode of the older (and, IMO, best) series from Cosgrove Hall - or just listen to the theme tune: Short Answer: Run. Run away.

Personally, I think the reboot could fail if every episode follows the same formula, which seems an inevitably considering the premise but it's only been the first episode - maybe things could be changed up a bit in future.
Minor thing - one nice little thing I've noticed in the first episode is that there seems to be a father and son dynamic between Big Ears and Noddy. It's not really noteworthy -considering how heavily removed it is from previous takes on Noddy but it's a nice little touch all the same in my opinion. Hope we see more of it in future episodes.

Noddy without PC Plod doesn't sound right to me. I always thought he was an important character. Lets hope they include him in series 2 if that gets made.

I grew up watching some of Noddy as a kid as it used to be on PBS thanks to the Noddy Shop (which was made as a similar way to Shining Time with the same crew working), but I hardly remember what episodes I remember exactly due to it being a long time since it came on. My mom bought a tape that had the US dub in the early 2000s and I would later watch "Make Way for Noddy" when my family had Sprout for a while and later saw some of the episodes on both the UK and US dubs.
There's this movie that was found recently that Bernard Cribbins voiced on!
