Whilst it's slightly worrying, I would not take that too seriously. The internet is such a valued, and pretty much neccessary, commodity in today's society that I cannot honestly see it happening; the public outcry would be massive.
Besides, over the years, I've received countless e-mails saying things like 'From this September, MSN is going to start charging it's users...' and September always rolls on by without me having to cough up a penny (and that's not because I hardly use MSN anymore!).

I'm rather cross right now so I'll keep this short to avoid going into a full-blown rant. Basically, Harridan Harpy (having a whale of a time pretending to be Prime Minister) is planning to reform British law regarding murder. And in the process, she's basically saying that it's alright for a woman to kill a man but not vice-versa. I was always taught that murder was murder no matter who killed and who died. The worrying thing is this isn't the first time old Harm-man has shown her true colours as a misandrist. Recently she proudly remarked that if she became PM "'There aren't enough airports in the country for all the men who would want to flee the country." How this stupid cow (apologies to any cattle that frequent this forum) gets away with this sexist tripe is beyond me. It seems now that it's only bigotry when it's targeted against certain favoured groups. Everyone else is fair game. The state of this country makes me sick.

So when I wish to commit murder, stick a wig on and a few chicken fillets down my top (Y)

Blows dust off thread... Did anyone hear about a train accident in France recently. They didn't say much on the news but I remember something about it being stuck in a tunnel (who knew Henry was visiting France?). It appearently caused "confusion and delay."
Also, the prime minister of Japan recently quit. So it's been hell here since the republican party is having trouble deciding a candidate.

I actually think it was something to do with the Channel Tunnel, connecting England and France under the ocean. I'm not entirely sure, though. Possibly a fire...

Appearently it turned out to be a fire. Kinda ironic since a few days later another accident occured in Southern America, a passenger train and a goods train had collided.
Anyway not sure if anyone is involed (or interested) in the stock market but Lehman Brothers had shut down. Now only AIG remains but that'll soon go too.

Not that everything's tickety boo over here either, mortgage giant HBOS has just been saved from bankruptcy by Barclays PLC (Whom bought Lehman Brothers holdings if I'm reading correctly. Boy are they doing well...)

It's actually Lloyds TSB who've rescued HBOS, not Barclays. But at the end of the day the important thing is SOMEBODY saved them.

Anyone hear about that big fire at Great Ormond Street Hospital this morning? I was there!

Really? I read that there were even a few anesthetized kids that were just about to go into surgery being evacuated. Must've been a bit unnerving for you as well when you found out it was real. The first reaction in my workplace is always "Oh great, another fire drill!".

Not at 8.30 in the morning. I think the media were quite disappointed about how much of a non-event it was. While the reports were coming in about the entire hospital being in chaos, I was making tea in my little office. My department actually evacuated voluntarily, and then only for about ten minutes.

Politics. Why must they be so harsh?

I've heard that many homes have been evacuated because the bush fire is spreading. I've been in communication with Wendy Kaysing (Bill Kaysing's daughter), she has been sending me updates on the fire, as she lives near the area. I have reason to believe that she has been evacuated too, just called her up but all I got was an answering machine.
I'm understandably very worried...

You know, this whole fire thing... it's one of the issues that's very tragic, not only because of all the damage and death, but because this kind of thing seems to happen almost every year in California. Makes you stop to think: we can't stop the fires, and we can't make people leave, so what's going to happen in the end?

Quite shocked to see my old secondary school make the national news today, and for all the wrong reasons: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nottinghamshire/8142428.stmAnd I actually knew the teacher involved. I was in his Physics class for several years and remember him as being a very pleasant guy. Always seemed to be striving to make lessons fun.

Yeah, I heard about that on the news earlier this morning, Chris. I didn't realise that you were an ex-pupil at the place, though. A bit unusual, this incident, especially as you say the teacher in question seemed pleasant enough. Then again, you never know, do you?

Wakes up sleeping thread... So what do you guys think of hurricane Irene? According to the NY Times, that hurricane was a harbinger, meaning more tropical storms in non-tropical regions are coming. Woo-hoo...
