I'm not sure how big the response here will be, but I'd like to bring up the topic of Australian Rules Football. Aussie Rules Footy (or even "footy" as it is known everywhere in Australia - excluding New South Wales and Queensland) has existed in some form or another since 1859, making it one of the oldest variations on Football/Soccer in the world (predating Gridiron and modern Rugby). Some say it goes back even further, based on a game called "Marn Grook" played by the Aboriginals of the land, but we'll not get into that now. It is one of the most complex "football" games in the world, requiring skills in kicking, hand passing, marking (catching), tackling, speed, strength and various others. I myself am I die-hard fan of the Essendon Bombers (have been since I started following the league back in '95); one of the (soon to be) 18 teams in the Australian Football League. How many people here have an interest in this amazingly diverse sport? Does it receive much of a mention internationally? Have you even heard of it before? And for those who are interested, the game has begun to take on an international flavour. National teams exist in the UK, USA, Canada, China, Japan, and even go so far as having the "Peace Team", made up of both Israelis and Palestinians playing together. Full is of countries that play in the AFL International Cup herewww.afl.com.au/So, who wants to talk about the great game of Aussie Rules Footy?

So, who wants to talk about the great game of Aussie Rules Footy? I do for sure! I can't believe that my beloved Blues are finally top 4 material. I mean, I copped sooooo much flak in Primary School because I supported the team that was always losing, despite their exellent past record. Fast forward 9 years and who's laughing now? Anyway, I've followed Aussie Rules for a very long time. I can remember playing football in the back garden with my dad, although the scoring system I made was more akin to Calvinball thn the actual game itself...
