It can be tear-filled eyes or Niagara Falls, but what parts in video games (if any) touched you or made you cry?
I admit, there was a part in Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls, in the Whisperwind Cove bonus dungeon, on the level where you have to find parts for the robot's friend. Seeing all that destruction and broken robots and abandoned houses, and these two automatons that have survived it struck a serious chord with me.

Mother 3 (Especially Chapters 1, 6 and 8) made me come pretty close to tears. Imagine if you will: Your mother dying, your brother going missing, your father searching endlessly for him, ignoring you in the process whilst an evil army takes over the world you know, while disguising what they're doing as good for everyone. Then, years and years later, you find out that your brother is alive, but a mindless soldier, controlled by the enemy in a plot to destroy the world, which results in you killing him. So yeah.

I shed a few tears during a couple games... Rayman 2: The Great Escape
I cried when Ly was freed, and at the end when everyone thought Rayman was dead
Super Mario Galaxy
A couple of times during the Storybook, and at the end of the final battle when Rosalina explained about the birth of universe
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
At the end when we see that Alister Azuimuth sacrificed himself

The first time I probably felt tearful towards a video game was Donkey Kong Country on the GBC. When the credits finish after defeating the boss, an image of DK climbing out of the Game Boy appears and the screen freezes. The music continues but the only way to get rid of it was by turning off the GBC and I considered it a tearful tribute towards the game.

Bits that made me tear up? Well there's a pretty well known one in FF7 and also a scene in the mistwalker RPG "Lost Odyssey" They set it up so perfectly, the game is plodding along at a cheerful pace, then you get an action filled scene where Kaim and the crew save two kids (Cooke and Mack) from a group of Numara soldiers. Then the kids take the crew back to their house to meet their mam and it turns out their mam is Kaim's long lost daughter Lirum. It’s such a powerful scene, the composition is spectacular and the character models are brilliant. So sad that Kaim finds his daughter only to lose her again so soon

The aforementioned numara soldier fight ended in tears too, but admittedly not out of sadness....

Batman Arkham City made me cry. The bit that did: When Joker died. Yes, I am a complete weirdo.

When I was playing both "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" games, I was going to cry when Dobby was killed, and the end in the second game where they show flashbacks to all the previous games.

*blows dust off thread*
Surprisingly, the first three 'Professor Layton' games have made me cry in some way.
Curious Village: When we find out that if Flora takes her fathers treasure, the whole village will disappear. But instead, Luke and Layton decide to take her home and take care of her instead.
Pandora's Box: Anton & Sophia's love story, and the ending theme 'Iris'. After seeing that ending, and hearing that music, I couldn't speak for 15 minutes. But then we do know that Layton's teacher has, in fact, not died.
Lost Future: When Claire has to return back to her own time... to... die... Layton cries, I cry. And then Luke is moving with his family abroad. Seeing him burst into tears, brought a tear to my eye. But after the credits, we find a letter from Luke saying that he needs help where he is (in the next game).
So it just goes to show, that sometimes, sad endings to video games can result in happy endings too.

Well, since the thread is just back on active, my worst tear-jerker is: The ending of LA Noire. Divorce, Sacrifice and war flashbacks... It would make a real good movie anyway.

When I pieced everything together at the end of Portal 2 by hearing Cara Mia Addio and Want You Gone, I cried for about half an hour I think.

*continuing thread after a long time"
I think I was rather heartbroken at the game over clips in Digimon World 3, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and DragonBall Z Budokai 2.

A few things in video games have made me cry.
The Halo games have usually been the cause of this. Halo: Reach's ending definitely brought a tear to my eye, as did the moment in Halo 4 when Cortana dies and the death of Sergeant Johnson in Halo 3.
The one game I cried at most was Mass Effect 3 and for those who've played and completed it, you probably know why.
