Hullo everyone! Over the past few days, I have been searching deviantArt and the internet for a good Thomas/Railway Series RP, and I have not found /any/ RPs.
Therefore, as an avid SodorIsland fan/user, I signed up for the forums and I am now proposing an SiF Railway Series RP.
If you are interested, please sign up in this thread by filling out this form:
Character: Info: Personality: Image:
For OCs:
Character: Info: Backstory/History: Gauge Size (If not Sodor-Gauge, please include in your Backstory/Info how it came to be the Sodor Size): Image: Specs: Other:
In regards to a few inquiries/requests about the Gauge Size, we will /not/ be having any American Engines (Or other gauge sizes unless specified in their back story/ other info and approved by myself) and will be keeping the Narrow Gauge and the Standard Gauges separate.
Feel Free to contact me using my contact info about any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, or complaints you have about this RP!

Hm. I'll look into it. I'll be visiting this thread to see what comes up, and maybe I'll create a character.
a rule I propose: all equipment must fit in the continental loading gauge. (If U.S. loco, must be either S100/S160, or small enough to fit, no super-power)

Hm. I'll look into it. I'll be visiting this thread to see what comes up, and maybe I'll create a character. a rule I propose: all equipment must fit in the continental loading gauge. (If U.S. loco, must be either S100/S160, or small enough to fit, no super-power) Agreed. To reference someone else, we don't want UP Big Boys on Duck's branch line! A nice rule of thumb for this would be to generally stay away from articulateds beyond X-4-4-X's, because after that things tend to get way too big for their respective haunts. Branch lines I think should be restricted to Moguls and smaller, there's no need for a Pacific on there. As for my tentative character... Character: Locke Persona: Locke is a little tank engine, a quiet sort who prefers to work rather than chatter. His small size belies his power, but he's young and green, with little experience with trucks or coaches. Being the only one of his kind gives him both a slight arrogance and a more pronounced "loner" quality, with his motto being a definite "I work alone." Livery: Fictional Myrtle Green with olive lining. Backstory/History: Locke is a one-off locomotive designed by an anonymous contractor. He was tested and found to be a success, but was kept in a shed until he found a buyer in Sir Topham Hatt, who intended to use him as an odd-job engine or a banker. Image: Specs: Unknown Builder 0-4-2T/WT Other:His water tanks are small, so to compensate the designer made him a combo side tank and well tank to improve his long-distance capacity. Ignore the Number One on his cab side, I just put that on there on a whim. He has no official number.

Possible Character 1: Cecelia Info: Swedish State Railways 4-4-0 type Cc #404 Backstory: A very old, classy engine from Sweden, Cece is currently visiting. She likes things prim, proper and polished, and despite seeming aloof at times, is quite wise. She is not very strong and only marginally fast, being fast for her time, but easily outclassed by new engines. She was, long ago, an express engine, but was soon bumped from higher services, though she was purchased by a preservation group and restored. Gauge: Continental Standard 4' 8-1/2", light and small enough for branch lines Livery: SJ standard Black w/ red lining and Russia Blue boiler/brass straps. Image: Specs: Statens Järnvägar Type Cc 4-4-0 locomotive. Home: Galve, Sweden. Rest all in Metric, because the data I found Is such. Weight: 41.1t Cylinders: 420x559mm Drivers: 1.878m Fuel: Coal Boiler: riveted at 11kg/cm^2 Frame: Plate Bearings: Friction-type bronze Other: Is in the UK on a goodwill tour, to help a small heritage railway in Falun. Possible Character 2: Emily Info (Taken from my story, "Brand New Engines,): Heavily modified GNR Stirling Single built by the Crovan's Gate works, completed in 2009. Backstory: Emily is a collaborative project between the Rolf’s Castle Historic Trust and the North West Railway. In 1995, The trust was deeply involved in a restoration to preserve the history of the castle, and sought an attraction to bring people to their castle. Simultaneously, nearby Kirk Ronan had a landmark fishing season, and the short branch of the North West Railway became quite busy. Sir Topham Hatt’s fleet became delayed due to the many fish trains, which often took work away from where it was needed, and the Fat Controller, as he is known, began to look into finding another engine. At the time, no steam engines were available in any sort of decent condition. It was, thus, a world of coincidence when the Trust approached him about building an engine. The Fat Controller suggested several designs for the line, mostly six-wheel tank engines, but the people on the Trust board didn’t like any of them. “This one looks too much like Thomas,” one would say, “That one too much like Percy.” One member of the board, a well-heeled businessman, insisted on a Single with a tender. He threatened to pull funding for the project if it was not the type of locomotive he wanted. After a great deal of research, The Fat Controller and the project benefactor decided to start with the Stirling design of the Great Northern railway. He started with the final evolution of the design, the G2 class, and changed the design further, without changing the external look too terribly greatly. The engine’s boiler was changed to All-welded, and a discreet superheater was fitted. As well, the entire chassis was converted to roller bearings, including valve and crank rods, and the frame was heavier and stronger than the original design, being a single cast piece. The most visible change was a reduction in driver size to 7’6”, rather than 8’1”. As well, the cylinder stroke was lengthened by two inches, to increase the crank radius by one inch. Special care was taken in balancing the entire system. This was done to increase the engine’s ability to climb up hills, as the Kirk Ronan branch can become very steep. In regular service, the engine would carry no more than two small three-axle coaches, but during trials, ten loaded bogie fish vans were handled, (although not without some difficulty,) on the ruling grade of the Kirk Ronan line. Work officially started in 2000, and the engine was completed, after much work, many tests, and gaps in funding, in 2009 at the Crovan’s Gate locomotive works. After a troublesome test period, where minor issues (and attitude problems) were addressed, the locomotive, officially christened “Emily,” entered regular service on the Kirk Ronan line, with a pair of three-axle coaches, look-alikes of early wood coaches, but made of steel with wood cladding to meet modern standards, and fitted with modern roller axle bearings, covered with flip-open journal covers for maintenance. Gauge: Continental Standard 4' 8-1/2", light and small enough for branch lines Livery: GNR green, no number, "NWR" lettering on tender. Image: (Her distant cousin, GNR no. 1) Specs: Stirling-Hatt GNR/NWR "G3" design. weight: Roughly 39 tons, may be more or less due to design changes Driver Size: 7'6" Boiler: All-welded @ 140psi Fuel: Coal Frame: single casting Bearings: roller Cylinders: 18x30 in Home: Crovan's Gate Works Other: Lives at the works, runs trains from the Works Station to Kirk Ronan and back.

Character:Cnut Info:GWR 6000 or king Class Backstory/History: Named after the King of Denmark, England, Norway and parts of Sweden, Cnut was built at Crovan's Gate in an attempt by sir Stephen topham hatt, (having been inspired by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.) to build a GWR 6000 Class locomotive for his railway. due to the fact that sodor is mostly run by steam. this took just over 3 months. what with him being named after a king, the engines expected him to be snobbish. however, from the moment he left the works, Cnut has been kind and easy-going and yet at the same time, firm in personality. he usually does mixed traffic work on the mainline, but sometimes assists Edward with his branchline. due to his namesake, he has a strong dutch accent. Gauge Size: 4 ft 8 1⁄2 Image: Specs:Collett-Hatt 4-6-0 steam locomotive

I have roleplayed a few times before, and I would love to join something like this. I just need to create my character first before I join. One question though, can I post a freelance or ficticious locomotive design to use as my character? I have made many, and if I could use one of them that would be just fantastic All the Best, Tayhan

Yes, you can use a fictitious locomotive design! All you have to do is provide a sketch along with the regular info needed for OCs/. Sorry I have been absent lately guys, I just had some school work to do. But I'm back! So far, you all are accepted!

Character: Rolf Info: GWR 4575 2-6-2 class. Painted in BR Brunswick green. Backstory: The workload on the Little Western was becoming pretty big. TFC did some searching around and aquired parts from several 4575 class locos. These were pieced together at Crovans Gate(with some new parts built) and thus Rolf was born. He was numbered 5522 after the engine most of his parts came from. Persona: He is very excited and keen to learn. He is a bit prone to making mistakes. He is rather naive and somewhat of an attention seeker. He is very in awe of the other engines but is a hard worker. He has a slight Cornish accent and is mostly assinged to pulling the heavy branch line goods trains, taking a considerable load off Donald and Douglas' wheels.

Why not? Character: William (yes, the one from my story) Info: Thompson/Peppercorn K1. Painted in BR Black. Numbered 62072. Mogul wheel arrangement. Mixed-Traffic engine on the mainline. Backstory: Worked for British Rail on the ex-LNER network until his withdrawl with a similar engine, number 62005, and both were put into storage. Was saved by the Fat Controller after spending time rusting as a stationary boiler, proper testing was performed before he was delivered to the North Western. Personality: Despite being young, he knows much about how a railway works and how to handle different types of conditions. He considers himself to be a big fan of the LNER, and is very proud of his heritage, leading him to talk endlessly about the London and North Eastern and defends it if necessary(especially with a certain Great Western fan). He likes to think of himself as the best mixed-traffic engine "created by the best minds from the best railway" as he likes to say. He has a good heart, and is more than willing to lend his services (and an engine who doesn't mind pulling trucks). Picture (Belongs to it's rightful owner Paul Rope):

Character: Sam the steam shunter Info: J72 tank engine locomotive, with a brown paint job. Backstory: Worked at London Paddington for four years before he was shipped off to Swindon which is where he met duck, when Nationalisation came along Sam, his driver and his fireman needed a safe place they could go, whilst in London Paddington an express locomotive told him about a place named Sodor where steam engines were proudly accepted. So that's how he ended up in Sodor Personality: Likes to play pranks and has a good laugh every now and again, unfortunetly he gets really angry when anyone teases him especially the trucks. But he is normally back to his fun loving self again. Shy, more of a thinker rather than a talker, loving and friendly www.flickr.com/photos/mattya7x/6298790035/in/pool-1191229@N23|mattya7x

I'm most likely extremely late to the party but why not? Character: Samson Info: LNER Class P1 Number "2394" Backstory/History: One of only two engines of his kind built, Samson was one of the most powerful locomotives of his time, at 38,500lbs of tractive effort. He was designed to haul heavy goods trains, but along with his brother, was never used to his full potential and was withdrawn in 1945. The Fat Controller managed to acquire Samson from the LNER and saved him from being cut up. At the time the war was over, and The Fat Controller needed a heavy goods engine; Samson was the most powerful that he could find at the time, and was cheap due to his poor condition and being out of use. Gauge Size: Standard Gauge Image: Specs: LNER Class P1 Weight: 153.8 tons Cylinders: 20 in × 26 in Driver Diameter: 5 ft 2 in Fuel: Coal Boiler: 6 ft 5 in Other: Fitted with a small "booster" unit under his cab to help start heavy trains.

That engine reminds me of Mike, or some of the engines on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. Is that where they got the basis for those engines, do you think?

Sam had not been very talkative since he'd arrived on the island, but now as he shunted Gordon's train ready for taking down to the junction for thomas' branch line, he was being teased by the trucks. Soon he lost patience and his driver accidently opened his regulator a bit too much and Sam shot forward into the truck which went soaring down the siding and finally derailed at the buffers and buried itself in the coal heap. "Uh oh" Sam gulped and his driver put him in a siding out of the way, 'What's the fat controller going to say when he finds out' Sam thought and he shivered.
