OK, we are good to go! ;D I have hit the Start Season button appropriately having received the 6th team in the league, so thank you trainzfan. First round of matches is on Saturday the 8th, to continue until October 13. 2009-08-08 09:30 Ffarquhar Masons (Rhodri) - Wellsworth Wanderers (StainerJack) 2009-08-08 09:30 Tidmouth United FC (Davey) - Salford Athletic (trainzfan) 2009-08-08 09:30 Mons Patro Vise (Myself) - AFC Knapford (Jimbob) Soon enough we'll be able to see how exactly the gameplay works. Been fiddling about looking at team options, lineups, tactics etc... this is very indepth. And I like that. I am SO disappointed that there's no option for Australian player names though... Also - Jimbob, I challenge thee to a friendly game before the league game! Dost thou accept? *slaps dueling glove*

Haha, weeeeeee And I have expected the slap of your glove Mr Halford. Bring it on . For the crack of it, here's the Sodor Island Football Association Premier League (mouthful ain't it? ) Season Preview I cooked up because I'm excited/sad/bored . Sodor Island Football Association Premier League- Team Guide AFC KnapfordColours - Orange/Black Home Ground - Somerton Road Manager - James Dunn 'The Harbour Boys' look set to push for the title in the revamped Premier League. There is a lot of pressure from the Somerton Road faithful being placed upon young manager James Dunn to lead the team to glory. Locals in the area have yet to be impressed by the merging of the clubs previous two teams after a torrid past seasons. Ffarquhar MasonsColours - Grey Home Ground - Anopha Park Manager - Rhodri Davies There is a feel-good factor surrounding Ffarquhar Masons recently. After years of battles with relegation, Welshman Rhodri Davies has finally brought in stability to the club. A side now to be reckoned with, the Masons can potentially see them see them at the top end of the table after years of them at the bottom. Mons Patro ViseColours - Black/Yellow Home Ground - Antwerp Stadium Manager - Clay Halford Perhaps one of the most controversal stories of the creation of the Premier League. Belgium millioniare Vincent Antwerp bought the debt-ridden Hatt Railworkers FC many sighed a sigh of relief at the safety of the old club being securred. However, Defour had other plans on the agenda, renaming the club and turned it into a base for Belgium players in a development for the international team outside of its own national league. The debate at whether this should be accepted has continued to the opening day, and its up for Halford to prove the critics wrong. Salford AthleticColours - Blue Home Ground - Trafford Park Manager - George Spencer The in-form team of the moment. Salford Athletic hope to take their momentum from the previous season. The ever confident George Spencer is sure he can lead his team to the top of the table. However, will this over positive attitude be the downfall of the team? Tidmouth UnitedColours - Yellow/Red Home Ground - Vicarage Park Manager- David Gurney After a near touch of the hand of administration, United can now relax. The former dominating force of the Sodor's footballing history have embarrasingly collapsed due to poor running and decison making at the top. Now with the future seccured with new owners in place, newly appointed and highly rated coach David Gurney has been set a target of returning the club to the title after 19 years of hurt. Wellsworth WanderersColours - Blue/White Home Ground - Wellsworth Football Club Manager - Jack Taylor The club with the shortest history out the league, the rise of the Wanderers has been phenomenal. Formed in 1992 after the collapse of Wellsworth , the club shot up the leagues from the bottom to the top. Taylor, who has seen over the clubs final push to the Premier League now has the hard job of making sure the club doesn't have a rude awakening from its beautiful dream. -- Hope no one minds what I've written about their team, and if they do do say and I'll change it .

Just to remind everyone, the fixtures are due for tomorrow so get your teams tactics and line-up sorted Me and Rhod sort've touched on this on our meet in 'port, do we have any major derbys in this league in terms of towns on Sodor we've placed ourselves as? I know Knapford (me) and Tidmouth (Davey) is one location wise, but I'm not entirally sure about Ffarquhar and Wellsworth. As for MPV and Salford...

The scores of Round 2 are as follows:
Tidmouth United FC 1 -0 Mons Patro Vise Wellsworth Wanderers 0-1 AFC Knapford Salford Athletic 2 - 4 Ffarquhar Masons
Second successive defeats for both Wellsworth and Salford. Not looking good for them, whereas Tidmouth United and Fharquar Masons continue their positive form. While Knapford recrod the first win, and despite a good performance, Mon Patro Vise slip to their first defeat.

Have a word with your assistant to sort it tf ;D Seriously need to sort out my team. Yeah, win today but according to statistics I got dominated by Wellsworth and only had one shot at goal...! Terrible luck Churchill8F, seriously. Still, clash of the titans next week, Masons and United. As of yet unbeaten, dominant and leading the table. It has the makings of a draw (lol, jokes of course, but lets face it those games usually are in the Premiership!)

The problem for the next 2 matches is the fact that 3 of the managers will be in North Wales! Ffarquhar, Tidmouth and MPV will be leaderless! We can prep our teams for the 3rd round, but unless we can get access to the net, we wouldn't know the results for that round and will be unable to prepare for the 4th round.

Hmm, true point. Either you set the tactics and hope they work for the three weeks or Clay finds a way of temporarily postoning games for the time being. The only other solution I can think of is that the games played do not count and then we can 'replay' them in the form of friendlys during the league (i.e for the example the Knapford-Tidmouth game for example would take place during the league as scheduled but we won't count that result in the league and then when Davey gets back we'll arrange a friendly for mid week and count that as the league game). With the later one we can also apply that to Salford, as Trainzfan is also away now as it stands. I'd be more than willing to replay any matches in the interest of fairness

Match report time! Masons kept on toes by determined Salford Salford Athletic surprised many at home ground Trafford Park today by reminding Ffarqhuar Masons just who they were facing. In a second half resurgence following a mediocre first, both sides showed what they are made of; the Masons with their dominating procession and pressure on Salford, who responded with several breakaways, stunning the Mason’s defensive line, bring it to a satisfying final score of 2 - 4. Following their 3 – 0 defeat away at Tidmouth despite many chances, manger George Spencer surprised many fans by making no chances to his starting 11 for his match against Ffarquhar, who had made 2 changes after their 2 - 0 win over Wellsworth Wanderers. Ffarquhar got off to a bad start when Neal Boshell was booked for shirting pulling againest Eric Berry as he moved with the ball up field. The boos from the Salford end were drowned out moments later following Dorian Simms’s booking for dangerous playing, for which Ffarquhar were given a freekick, taken by Bigglesworth, a major player in last week’s match. This success didn’t continue as he kicked it straight into the keeper. This however got the gaming moving. By the 35th minute, both sides had several, yet unimpressive chances at goal. Ffarquhar, however by this point were settled in and started dictating the match. This bore fruit in the 35th minute with a collapse in the Salford defense, allowing midfielders Isaac Marsden and Kieran Liddell to slip through, with Liddell delivering a long distance shot for goal. In the restart, the stunned Salford was taken by surprised as Ffarquhar pressed deep into their half. A penalty was called as George Chester kicked for goal, with the ball being accidentally deflected off by the hand of Salford captain, Callum Barker. Liddell homed in to make it 2 – 0. Taking it as a wake up call, Salford reacted with a breakaway by Clint Cartmell shortly after the restart, making it far as the undefended Ffarquhar goal. This wasn’t enough as his attempt for goal ended up on the hands of the Mason’s captain, Will Keith. Cartmell wasn’t done however as he quickly came back following a speedy interception. Again, Keith stopped Clint’s famous ‘Eastwood Special’ kick with ease. With Salford’s energy spent, the Masons ended the half with another attempt at goal. The second half started poorly with Bigglesworth booked due to his trademark poor sportsmanship when he reacted poorly to an alleged bad tackle. While Ffarquhar had general control of the game, it didn’t stop Salford as they tested their opponents thin defense line with small breakaways. In a case of karma at the 64th minute, the Masons suffered the same situation that granted them their second goal, a hand ball in their box. Barker moved up to take the penalty that put Salford in the game at last with a goal. It was after another booking for the Masons (Dempster for shirting pulling) that the game turned up several notches, when the Mason begin a final offensive to sucure victory. A cracking kick from Bigglesworth and a equal defense from Salford keeper Dave Pennock saw the ball fly over the top bar, resulting in the Mason gaining a corner kick, provided by Eamon Gornall, continued by a header from George Chester, right in the back of the net on the stroke of the 84th minute. It seemed it was all over. Complacency from the Masons however saw Salford get back into the game, with several breakaways lead by Sammy Ashby and Dennis Babington. As the 90th minute arrived, Ashby and Babington pulled out their party piece with a breakaway, leaving Keith alone to defend solo. Simple footwork form the duo saw the ball drift lazy over the line to make it 2 – 3. With 4 minutes of added time, the Mason countered the rather embarrassing affair with Chester Dempster slipping along the sides with the ball with a fast pass to Eamon Gornall, who hammered it home to make a secure victory for the now leader of the league table.

Ah bugger. Won the friendly against Jimbob, couldn't keep the form going. And a bad injury no less to one of my main midfielders I'm pretty sure I can postpone the league, I saw something about that a few days back when pootling around the site. ... OK, I've found where the league can be postponed, but if I do that no one can log onto their team whilst the postponement is ongoing. Tuesday night in SYD (mornign for you guys) I'll postpone it for 2 weeks, it'll be back up the weekend of September 5/6. * Tell you what though, it's pretty easy to see which teams are dominating so far - in the 2 "Team Of The Week"s so far, 7 players have been in both, 6 of which from TUFC and the Masons. The last is from MPV. 4 of Knapford's players have had one guernsey, but none for wither Salford or Wellsworth. Not a bad reflection of the competition so far.

I will be honest. I'am really enjoying this. I mean, I'm a sucker for football manager games. However, this is something different. I love the fact I can't work out the tactics to save my life. I find it fustrating that I can't get a team of quite good players (at least their skill rating tells me so anyway) to gel and be a force. I think its brilliant how I've got work to do to catch up with the top two it would appear. I think the fear of MPV breathing down my back is tense. Yet though are they to have a win, I think none of the league can write off Wellsworth and Salford as I still do regard them as a threat. The only downside I have to this? I wish more people had signed up and with it more teams. Still, there's always next season for that .

I've put in bids for a few players in the transfer market. Let's just say the Wanderer's will get back up to the top, as their Wolverhampton namesakes have also done. Do agree though, it's a pity we only have 6 clubs.

I've found myself wasting way too much time on it already, looking at the transfer market, checking out the results, this that and the other. Great fun, and so much more complex than the normal sort of sporting simulations where you choose real players and they get points based on their performance in a game (I know of ones for AFL, Rugby League and Cricket at the very least). This is much more enjoyable. I think I've run out of money by bidding on a player then evaluating their skill instead of the other way around

I think the fear of MPV breathing down my back is tense. You think thats tense? Try being at the top of the league and having a team of equal power breathing down on you...whom I playing against next! I'm feeling quiet tense about it.s
