Another classic game series for the SEGA system.
Does anyone else remember this series?

I do. I'm a huge fan of the series. I'll be getting the new game for xmas. Anyone heard about it? It's going to be a cross over with the DC characters. Batman, Superman, Catwomen and Joker are in it. I'm looking forward to it.

I haven't played any of the Mortal Kombat games in ages. I particularly liked Mortal Kombat 3 because it featured the unmasked Sub-Zero, plus it was great to see Cyrax and Sektor, who looked kinda like robots. Funny thing is, I never learned how to perform fatalities.

Mortal Kombat is an amazing series, and one of the staple fighting genres that has had alot of ban attempts due to blood.
MC Vs. DC was alright, the endings are neat!

Aidan, Cyrax and Sektor were robots and so was Smoke. Some Fatalities are easy to preform on MK Vs DC. Joker is a fun character to play and so is Catwomen she has some good moves. I've heard there will be downloadable stuff for MK Vs DC such as characters. Doomsday and Kung Lao have been hinted. I hope other downloadable characters are Robin, Johnny Cage and a few more Batman villans as I'm more familler with them.

Another classic game series for the SEGA system. Does anyone else remember this series? SEGA system? There's the SG1000, SG2000, Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Nomad, Saturn, Pico, and Dreamcast. I don't remember a Sega System though. Also, isn't it Mortal Kombat?

Wow, a thread for this great series does exist! Fantastic! I've always been a fan of Mortal Kombat; it was a fighting games series that attempted to create a storyline and mythology of its own (look at the Sub-Zero game released in the late 90s). It had interesting characters, and wasn't afraid to delve into the depths of bloody violence and the supernatural. But what I remember most about it was the ninja characters; Scorpion, Sub-Zero (1 & 2, as well as Noob Saibot), Ermac, Rain, Reptile, Smoke (human) and Chameleon. The old days of fighting Scorpion and Sub-Zero between friends (often arguing about who would get to play as who) was a brilliant piece of childhood nostalgia for me And for those of you who haven't it yet, there has recently been a fan-fiction mini-movie released on YouTube, showing how good a new movie could be VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED!

I must admit, I'm really looking forward to the newest title. For those who don't know, it's meant to be a retelling of the first three games in an alternate timeline. I might get a PS3 just for it.

Devious Diesel, I'm really looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat game and last year I thought this new one would be set after Armegeddon where it would have new characters and killed off the old ones In DC universe fatalities were lame (of course you can't have Batman and Superman killing oponents) but it looks more awsome this time

I believe that was their original intention for Mortal Kombat 8 (the game that would eventually turn into MKvsDC), but I'm glad they didn't. I think the characters from the older games are better, for the most part, than the newer ones. So far, for those who don't know, we have... Confirmed - Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Mileena, Reptile, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Nightwolf, Cyrax, Sektor. Rumoured - Raiden, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Kano, Liu Kang, Sonya, Jax, Smoke, Ermac I'm personally hoping for Baraka and Kabal. They're favourites of mine.

I'm intrigued as to how the "Alternative Universe" saga is set to be played out. Will it simply be dished out saying "from post-3 nothing actually occurred", or will it involve sorcery that changes the course of time? I'm personally hoping for the latter; there's no reason for a reboot...
An interesting side-note; the Sub-Zero set to appear in MK9 is going to be the orignial from MK1 (who later became Noob Saibot), rather than his younger brother from post-MK1 (the one with the scar over his eye). Hopefully it'll allow for a few interesting scenes involving him and Scorpion ;D

Silver Link, The story will be in Armeggedon Raiden is just about to be killed by Shao Kahn so he sends a message to his past self and past-Raiden (where it is likley to be set around MK 1) while he doesn't get the clear message knows something bad is going to happen. So it's not really a reboot it's a bit like Back to the fututre but in this MK game things that didn't happen before might happen this time. I've heard someone will be a robotic ninja
MK needs Scorpion and Sub Zero rivialry. I always loved what went on between them. ;D
I really wish they'd hurry up and confirm Liu Kang. He's my fave character. I have heard they know who will appear in the game but they won't confirm all of it yet but it's very likley to be the original characters from the first 3 MK games. The newer ones weren't that good it was just Quan chi out of the newer cast I liked but never expect Hsu Hao to appear again. Creators don't like him.

Speaking of Quan Chi, I wonder if, when they say MK1-3, they also consider Mythologies: Sub-Zero, which occured before MK1....that being the case, it is possible Quan Chi may appear.
I hope Liu Kang appears too, especially in regards to the new tag team mode. Imagine him paired up with Kung Lao.

I've heard there will be downloadable characters so I guess we'll have to see who doesn't make it in this one. I know one character who is unlikely to make it. Stryker. He wasn't a popular character but I thought they made him better in Armegedon.
Speaking of downlaodable characters did you guys know Quan Chi was going to be a downlaobalde character in DC universe? so was Harley Quinn unfortunatly it never happened but hopfully they'll do them in the future. I was hoping they'd make some.

With Quan Chi having been dropped as downloadable content in DCU, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he'd DL in MK9, if not in the "original".

I've just completed the new game and my thoughts. AWSOME. If you like Nostalgic Mortal Kombat games this game is for you. Fatalitles are also awsome. (I wonder how many of you can spot the fatality that was obviously rejected for DC universe with same sound effects) I enjoyed storymode and I'm glad we played as the famillier characters instead of one who was created just for it like in the past. My only complaint is you can't play as the bosses and they look cool. Anyone else got the game? Story mode has a shocking end and it makes you think what will happen but judging by the end there will be a sequel which looks like a Mortal Kombat 4 remake set in a alternate timeline
