105: In 1905 the Pennsylvania Railroad claimed to have the world steam speed record, with a speed of 127.1 mph. This was dismissed as incorrect because the speed was come up with watches and mile markers. But there are still some that believe that this is the world speed record.
106: The engine that got this record was Pennsylvania Atlantic 7002. This engine had Eighty inch drivers and was scrapped in 1934. Interestingly enough, engine 7002 showed up at the Chicago RR Fair in 1949 with a plaque proclaiming her unbeaten recod. This engine was actually Pennsylvania 8063, a similar Atlantic, and Still survives today under the guise of 7002.

111: On the subject of questionable steam speed records, the Norfolk and Western J class was rumored to have hit 140mph on trial. However, this was never officially measured, although likely quite possible: N&W J #611 could easily hit 80mph in excursion service, and in regular service, the locomotives could easily hit 100mph.
