A thread for all fans of oasis.
I'm a fan of them. I like Definately Maybe, and "What's the Story? (Morning Glory?), and The Masterplan a lot. I like their singing voices a lot.

...Comments would be nice.
I'm not really a fan of the more recent Oasis stuff, like 'Hindu Times', I found it rather dreary. But 'Definately Maybe' is a great album, and 'Wonderwall' is a good drunken singalong song!
Anyone heard their really early stuff? Like 'F***in' in the Bushes'? It's on the Snatch Soundtrack, a song thats a bit more vicious than what Oasis are known for.
And the Gallaghers? Say what they want, do what they want.... And not your average celebs!

I'd don't have any full Oasis albums, but I do like odd songs. My favourites are Don't Look Back in Anger, Roll With It and She's Electric. Although everyone say's it their best I'm not really a fan of Wonderwall.

Love Oasis!
Got all six studio albums and will probably end up buying the B-Sides and Live stuff as well eventually.
Noel Gallagher had an amazing songwriting talent for the first two albums, which were exceptionally strong classics, and then the third, which produced the two gems, "D'you Know What I Mean?" and "All Around The World".
Although, as Corbs said, the more recent stuff hasn't been up to the standard of Definitely Maybe or even Morning Glory, Oasis still stand as rock legends.

If the title is any indication, 'Stop the Clocks' will be on there, too. Can't see how they couldn't include 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'Champagne Supernova'. You'd think those two would be among the first confirmed, but there's still almost no doubt they'll be on there. Can't say I'm happy about that. I've already bought the first 2 albums and Don't Believe the Truth, meaning that I'll probably have most of the songs that are confirmed to or are most likely to be on the compilation. I'd really not buy an album that's redundant considering I already have many of the songs on original studio albums and I'm just buying it for the one new song and perhaps the few B-sides that never made it to studio albums. Not meaning to go on the rant...just hoping 'Stop the Clocks' will also be included on the next studio album as well. I might have to wait for more news before I buy any other Oasis albums. I probably have most of the tracks that will be on the greatest hits cd between the three albums I already have, but if there are enough songs from 'Be Here Now' or 'Heathen Chemistry' I might just buy that instead of those. I'm sure 'All Around the World' and maybe 'Don't Go Away' and 'Songbird' will make it. Know what I mean? (Oops...that's Blur )

new single: Oasis to release new single It will be familiar to millions Oasis are set to release a single this year ahead of their forthcoming best of 'Stop The Clocks'. The band are currently appealing to fans via their website Oasisinet.com to appear in a new video which will be shot on September 12 "at a famous London concert venue". It's understood that a re-recorded 'Acquiesce', which originally appeared as the B-side to 'Some Might Say' in 1995, will be the release. The track is set to be taken from the band's forthcoming collection 'Stop The Clocks'. According to The Sun the band are planning to re-record the song for inclusion on the album. In the past few months I have transformed to 'Medicore' fan of Oasis to a massive one . Their songs are exactly what I look for when I listen to them. Inspiring, meaniful lyrics, great backing track and solo's, and the Gallaghers singing is brilliant. I find it upsetting though that Oasis seem to be just known for certain songs like 'Don't Look Back in Anger', 'Wonderwall' and 'She's Electric'. I've actually grown to like the lesser known songs such as 'Go Let It Out', 'Sunday Morning Call' and, my favourite song by the band, 'Masterplan'. 'F*****' in the Bushes' does get a shout out also . The one critiscm I see regulary on YouTube when I look for music, which I shall bring up here in the hope of discussion, is that people argue that they just blatently rip off the Beatles. I disagree with this view fully. Rip-off, nope, but influenced, yep. Plus, say if there were no Beatles there would be no be Oasis, couldn't you just say the same for everyother band? If The Who hadn't smashed up their guitairs in the name of Rock, who would've inspired the Kaiser Chiefs? Same can be said for other bands such as Guns 'n' Roses, Supertramp, Rolling Stones, Paul Weller...and lets not start on how bands and artists wouldn't probably be around if it weren't for Queen.

Some late news here. Oasis are apparently in discussions with the BBC for starring in a special edition of the 'Weakest Link' where they will square off against big Britpop rivals, Blur. As unlikely as it would seem, it would be something to see...

Don't expect it to happen, blur's management's basically already said that it's not happening
may as well also note that they have a new album due out (tentatively) in Aug. of this year. Confirmed songs include: I want to live in a dream in my record machine (as confirmed by Q magazine.)

Just sharing a little gem I found on YouTube a while back. This one fan on there who uploaded Noel's acoustic versions of songs (which along with this is worth a look) has now started to uploaded rather interesting things to his account. Among these demo's for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants album, the songs from the infamous Zanibar gig (minus the preformance of Stop the Clocks though, I'm afraid) and a few songs Noel recorded before Oasis. For me the pre-Oasis Noel songs are something to really look at because his voice is so young and different from his current one its interesting to listen to. Hope you enjoy: RedlandsmaN87 YouTube Account

Dig Out Your Soul = One of the most underated albums this year. TBH, I thought that this album would either make or break Oasis again. If it was an outstanding album, it would prove that they still have that ability to create albums like 'Definitely Maybe' and '(Whats the Story) Morning Glory?'. However, if it was just another 'so so' album like 'Heathen Chemistry' and 'Don't Believe the Truth' it would just put the final nail in the coffin and Oasis would be forever known as that 'band that were good in the 90's, but lost it when their songwritter quick drugs'. I don't know about anyone else, but I wasn't disappointed. The first few songs on it are brilliant. The first half of the album is just full out energy, even with the bands new 'groove' sound. 'Bag it Up', 'The Turning' and 'Shock of the Lightning' are just brilliance tbh. Liam finally shows he has the Gallagher good song writting genes with 'I'm Outta Time' which is so beautiful coming from a man who claims to be 'The Salmon King' and adds 'you know what I mean' to the end of the every sentence he speaks. 'Falling Down', 'To Be Where There's Life' and 'Waiting For The Rapture' are just brilliant and all. For the me the downside is a few naff songs ('Get Off Your High Horse Lady' the main target of this) which I think could have been replaced with waaay better songs that you know they have in their arsenal. However, I still think this album keeps Oasis fighting for another day. Bring on the stadium tour, I'm waiting for them at the Millenium Stadium .

Although I don't follow Oasis all that much, I do find that they produce some cracking songs. My favourite ones are... - (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - Wonderwall: Why this song always loses to " Smells like Teen Spirit" is beyond me! - Don't Look Back In Anger - The Masterplan - Half The World Away: Blame " The Royle Family" for me liking this one! ;D - All Around The World - Go Let It Out - Stop Crying Your Heart Out - Lyla: Brings back memories of my North Yorkshire holiday in May/June 2005, this one does! ;D

I'm not a huge Oasis fan, but I like the odd song like:
Stop Crying Your Heart Out Roll With It
My Mother doesn't like the Gallagher Brothers, but out of half the stuff from the 90s I have to admit that Oasis were certainly popular other than the Spice Girls. As alot of Metal was going down in the dumps with the whole Grunge thing emerging.
