ok i wasn't sure if there was a thread on justin bieber...
now i can't really stand him, but the way i keep hearing him get compared to the likes of Aerosmith, Queen, Bon Jovi etc is beginning to make me sick...
as any music video i watch on youtube be it a clip of Queen at Live Aid to "Livin on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, or "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, i then end up seeing about a dozen comments that justin bieber is better than any of them... (bangs his head against a wall)
and the bands i've mentioned in my opinion are, as i put it... ROCK GODS!!!
so what is the big deal about him?

Two words my friend. ''Teenage insanity.''
Most kids today refuse to respect what came before. They cannot or will not listen, because the voices of guys like Bieber keep stopping them.
And then, these teen wonder why video's mocking their idol like this one...
Are made! To be honest, It's sad that these people could like his singing. But, in all fairness, he IS the future. And while i'll get alot of flames for this, I do wish Justin good luck. One day, he will like those bands be a legend.

Well first of all... I can't stand this prat, he's clearly a One Hit Wonder (it's so obvious).
Second of all, there's is no Way in hell... can he be compared to Aerosmith, Queen or Bon Jovi, those three bands are legends and plus they play real decent music who along with some many great bands helped build the Music Industry in the 70s, 80s and 90s (only for stupid executives to throw it away with One Hit Wonders). Justin Bieber is just some punk teenager who Music Executives can make money off of because 'He looks good', that's all. His music sucks the big time, and I don't know what's so great about him. I've seen quite a few rants about him on YouTube, I've even heard a brief clip of one of his song: 'One Less Lonely Girl' (oh god that was just... Awful, plus he sings like a 10 year old).
It's crap like Justin Bieber, Simon Cowell's X-Factor that is what's killing the music industry. It's not about music anymore, it's all about: 'Who looks good' than what sounds good. Plus it's a complete insult that these 'sheepish' Teenage Girls (and younger) fall for this crap and not true good music like Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and etc (but at least Rock and Heavy Metal isn't dying, that's just getting stronger).
Argh...! If I say anymore, I'll be cursing and swearing (but I'm keeping the swearing down, I've myself in enough trouble with that after my rant about the UK Film Council sometime ago. But Justin... no disrespect, but you truly do suck. Your just the next Jonas Brothers and etc). But what makes it worse, it that this trend will go on and on for lord knows how long.

I'm not that into Justin Bieber, either. From what I've heard, he was first discovered on YouTube a few years ago. Another thing I don't like is that some of his songs sound a bit repetitive, ie his song "Baby."

The big deal is he's the latest teen sensation, idolized by all those caught in the fad...I'm glad I left school when I did! Can't say I've heard him compared to the likes of Aerosmith, Bon Jovi etc. But then again, I don't follow the music scene as closely as I'm sure the rest of you do. Upon hearing the media hype, I looked up one of his songs on YT, heard the kiddie voice...[clicks 'back' button]
The main thing that bugs me about this guy is how much he's cashing in on his celebrity status; I'm sure many a teen idol has done so before him, but constantly going through Digital Spy and seeing things like 'Beiber says 'I'd date a fan'', 'Beiber says 'I have a crush on Emma Watson' etc...who the hell cares? He thinks just because he's young and he's got a lot of teen fans, everyone'll thinks anything he says is cute. He's trying to cash in on his fame like no teen celeb I've seen before.
By the way, anyone know (without researching) what Hilary Duff's up to nowadays? The Olsen Twins? Exactly...give it a year or two, this prat will fade into obscurity like the rest of them! Remember just a couple of years before him, it was Zac Efron, and you can tell he's slowly fading out of the public eye.

In all honesty, although the kid doesn't appeal to me musically, I think he plays the celebrity game very well. He's teaming up with some of the biggest names in music, which in turn will plug his releases, and draw people in from their fanbases... it's Usher who's mentoring him and clearly, the guy ain't daft.
I say fair play to Beiber, given what he's been through up until he found celebrity status, he's milking it for everything it's worth and seems to be doing no wrong among his target audience. Let's just see if he can survive beyond this stage.

There really isn't a big deal among anyone older than 14. Comparing him to the likes of Aerosmith is really just ridiculous, as Aerosmith is still popular, despite having been around for decades. Once this kid hits puberty (How hasn't he yet?) his career is finished. I can't say I really blame him for milking his celebrity status, but I'm almost certain it will come back to bite him some day, much like it has Lindsay Lohan.
His songs themselves are mediocre, his voice high and grating, and the the fact that non-chain music stores don't carry his stuff is a testament to how he's just another flash in the pan teen idol, much like every single Disney channel star in the last eight years.

Eh, I don't care, really. It honestly doesn't piss me off that he's being compared to the great '80s metal bands, because I know that eventually, like almost all pop artists, he'll get tossed by the wayside for the next babyfaced teenage performer. Remember N'Sync? The Spice Girls? How long did that last? two years?
Pop is just that kind of genre - Popular, or Fad, music. This too will pass in about a year. The only pop performer that's really trancended generations is...well...Michael Jackson. and that primarily because he died.

Well how about we solve two problems with one stone? We send Mr Bieber on a tour of Afganistan sponsered by HiT, if everyone here promises to stop bugging HiT

Hmm... sounds like a deal! Me? I don't listen to a whole lot of pop music these days (I've already mentioned how disenchanted I've been because of it's declining quality); Bieber has some potential, yet he spoils it by being such an attention seeker for his closed-minded fans. Recently, I was watching a video about how much (American) junior magazines are devoting their print and paper to Bieber and what he's Tweeting about, now matter how much we (and the fans) care about it. I'm just glad I turned to house and techno when I did. The other reason I'm here is this: What do you get when you slow down a Justin Bieber song to tedious lengthy proportions? An atmospheric ambient track!

He is basically making the most of his fame before he finally hits puberty.

I'm glad I grew up with bands like Queen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones before this... CHILD. I first saw him on a music channel called Max and I no idea who the hell he is all I know is that my sister doesn't like him. Then I found many Facebook groups saying 'That girl has one great voice... mom it's Justin Bieber' which made me laugh and then when I saw 'Baby' on a TV ad for mobile phones that's the most annoying song I've heard more annoying then Thomas' rhyming in 'Misty Island Rescue'. When I watch videos about The Beatles all that Bieber fans were saying is that he's better than them and they all say he's real music. Oh no, The Beatles, Queen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones are REAL music. The thing is now is that we just got to live with this person and deal with it and don't worry he'll die out soon by someone even bigger for young teenagers TMRReturns P.S - I know this sounds like a rant but I don't like starting arguments here. It sounds to me from what you're saying is that Bieber isn't the problem, but his fans are. and that 12-16 female "girly girl" demographic does tend to get annoying. But there's an easy solution. ignore the comments section of YouTube.

I don't get why you are all that mad, at least he can actually sing.
I like some of his stuff, I'm clueless as to why there's so many negative views on him. I can see him doing quite well, as long as he keeps himself clean from drugs and sex scandals.

The reason he has such an amount of hate bestoede upon him is not because of his singing ability, but because of a small section of his fans going on to videos on youtube of say Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Ramones, basically all the music their parents listen to and saying "This is crap Justin Beiber is 100000000000 times better than this old rubbish." I would never have heard of him if it wasnt for people like this. I think it was on a Beatle's video that I heard of his "suporirity" to one of the greatest bands ever. I dislike his voice and his stupid little face because of this but I'm not the target audience so who cares. It's the same with me and Football. I think it is the Dullest thing in existance so of course I don't watch it. And I don't make it my duty to tell people to stop just because I don't like it when I have to watch it.(Which is quite alot as my job dictate's it. I work behind a bar. )

I can't stand the little weasel.... His fans are deafened by his so-called hotness..... I don't understand it, he's a scrawny little thing..... I'd love to use harsher words but there are rules restricting that so...... yeah!
Anyone who calls him a legend are idiots, bands like Queen or Aerosmith have something called "staying power". Bieber will be on the street and homeless as soon as his career goes down the drain and he's replaced with the next sensation who will surely be as annoying if not more as Bieber

For anyone who's a Wrestling fan (particularly WWE) might know that WWE are in negotiations about getting this Twit to sing 'America the Beautiful' at next year's Wrestlemania.
Now... as a Wrestling fan for nearly 10 years (2011 being 10 years since I've been a fan of Wrestling) and I know WWE is in the PG era... But getting this twit to sing at Wrestlemania, will be (to quote Comic Book Guy) 'The Worst Decision Ever...' Justin Bieber will murder next year's Wrestlemania, plus there's going to be a whole lot of fans who will most likely Boo his candy 'what's it' out of the Arena.
I'd rather have Lemmy sing it (yeah I know Lemmy isn't American, but he'd be a better choice than Bieber hands down). Lemmy is a Rock God, Justin Bieber is just a 'Music Executive Tool' just to make money and draw fans to like his crap (now I'm not a harsh person but I hate these useless Teen stars, I only give Miley Cyrus credit out of them all. Thank God I got into Heavy Metal when I was 14).
But WWE... don't get Justin Biebber to sing, get Dave Mustaine, Slash or Rich Ward to do a Guitar Instrumental version of America the Beautiful (a Metal Guitar Solo will be bettter than Bieber's horrid singing).

But out of all the Bieber rants, this one is my favourite (the Guy is so true in what he's talking about and I 100% agree with him): I agree with this Guy about the fact about Michael Jackson (no one can be compared to the King of Pop, or the King of Rock 'n' Roll Elvis).

Now, I have to admit, I never heard of thus guy before, until I saw a bash Bieber video on youtube last weekend. So, I then would have to ask "What is this guy all about?" And then, I watched another video and now I know what he is all about. You know, if I want to torment myself, I will listen to one of Bieber's songs.
