Though there is a chance that many of the supposed UFO sightings have been no more than secret testings and the tag UFO allows government and military officials to get away with tests. Some good points from above have got me thinking. Although the universe is infinite and ever expanding and yes the chances of intelligent life being out there is high, do you think that we may have been visited? If these aliens have come all that way to look at our planet surely you'd think that with their technology that they would either have blown us away or maybe tried to communicate and study us more closely. I just feel that there maybe other reasons to some of the stories but i just don't have any facts and solid reason to think that. I just do.

The problem is we haven't ever actually seen aliens, so we don't know what they're like. I don't think they would be too far removed from us in some senses; although I agree that their sense and communication forms would likely be different from our own.
But I still stand by what I said about their mindsets. I doubt they'd be very far removed from our own, unless they had a hive mind, and I find it difficult to believe a species with a hive mind could develop far technologically. Though maybe this is because I believe in love and hope and spirituality and stuff.
They don't visit us because it goes against the Prime Directive. =P

Maybe aliens have the technology to study us closely without being noticed...

Maybe aliens have the technology to study us closely without being noticed... You have a point, for all we know they could know that SiF members are discussing about them.

Wonder what they may be thinking if they have seen the likes of the X Files and Independance Day? I don't like to think that maybe one day they could just decide to blow us away without us ever knowing about it. Just as long as i'm asleep when it happens then i won't know about it.

It could be that they wouldn't even realise that those films are about them, if they're weird enough...

In my teens, I remember reading about how our television and radio signals were being diffused into space and in theory deciphered by an advanced civilization light years away. Mind you, it would likely take hundreds if not thousands of years to traverse the distance, wouldn't it? Ralph Cramden and Lucy Ricardo our erstwhile ambassadors of humanity? As I was writing this post, I found this... news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7544915.stmThe last sentence in the article is kind of scary.

Well, that's assuming the aliens could work out what was going on in that footage.

To assume that they could decipher that signal, maybe they could figure the footage out.

It's a few days old, but still interesting none-the-less New Zealand military releases UFO files Reports recorded by the military of NZ dating as far back as 1954 all the way up until 2009 have been made public after two years of campaigning through "freedom of information" acts. Two years? Why would it take so long to get this pushed through? What was there hidden in there that they didn't want revealed...? *** On another UFO-related topic, the best case study I've ever heard of in my life actually comes from my home country of Australia. Due to the size of the story I'll simply post the wiki link, which is surprisingly accurate. Valentich DisappearanceThe fact that money was blocked, the tape of the radio transmissions never released (only a transcript ever was, and THAT'S mysterious enough!), and over a dozen separate, non-related people from different parts of Tasmania and Victoria witnessed a strange, green craft in the air that night (who reported it nearly a decade before the story was made public) make this one very strange UFO case... To this day no trace of Frederick Valentich or his plane has ever been found...

Seeing as how there was all that hubbub several months ago about the US government declassifying and talking about UFO sightings, it seemed only fair to dust this thread off.
Personally, I think many of the UFO sightings we've seen have a terrestrial explanation. I suspect all that talk and declassification was meant to be more of a news distraction than anything else, but that's not what this thread is about.
I believe life on other planets has to exist, given the size of the universe. Have they ever visited us? As of yet, I'm unconvinced, but don't mistake that for being certain. It's certainly possible that all of these recent sightings could really be alien life after all.
However, one thing that wasn't thought of when this thread was first created was the theory that our entire existence is merely a computer simulation, which if you believe that (I'm not ruling it out), that would explain every UFO sighting lol.
