It was greatly interesting seeing this extended version, and I will be sure to keep up with following episodes (or at least try to remember!). Fingers crossed. As I've said, Ivor seems to be airing somewhat sporadically in this kids slot. I checked through today's broadcast and unfortunately Mrs. Porty's Foxes was shown yet again. Hopefully they have access to more than one episode! I suspect that the reason Big Central TV are showing the old B&W Ivor episodes and the reason their catch-up website appears to be relatively unsophisticated is because they're a very newly established local channel (they only began broadcasting in February) and it seems they don't have much money or support behind them. While it's true Big Centre TV are a low budget operation, I believe the other reason they are showing vintage Ivor is because they have access to the Kaleidoscope Archive. Kaleidoscope were instrumental in uncovering these lost episodes several years ago, and specialize in preserving many old TV shows. The females voiced sounded different. I'm not sure if it's Olwen Griffiths or if one of the two male narrators did the female voices as well, 'cause I don't really see her credited Fairly sure all the voices (female included) were by Postgate and David Edwards. Judging by Chris The Xelent's post above, Edwards was replaced in later B&W eps by the more familiar Anthony Jackson and Olwen Griffiths.

Okay, for anyone that doesn't live in the UK, the links don't work. I'm not sure if it's because the site discovered that non-UK vistors came on the site.

I've spent the past two days studying TVTropes.com in order to make a page for Ivor the Engine, which, unlike Thomas & Friends, had yet to receive one. Early days of course, but here's the link if you're interested to revisit the series. Ivor the Engine: TvTropes

For anyone that missed out on the early B&W episodes that aired on Big Centre TV a few years back (it either no longer shows them or is completely defunct - not entirely sure which!), Oliver Postgate's son has kindly shared another one on Facebook: www.facebook.com/daniel.r.postgate/videos/1521617392776/I think this is the first episode of the second series, as it reintroduces all the characters and references what happened to Ivor's whistle in The First Story ("Do you remember? I told you about it one time."). Love the little fourth wall breaking moment between the Narrator and Jones the Steam.

Thanks for sharing that Chris. I've been wanting to see the black and white episodes since they were rediscovered, and bar the Big Centre TV showings I've not had a chance. Would be lovely to see them on DVD one day, but it honestly doesn't look likely.
The fourth wall breaking moment certainly startled me. I don't remember seeing anything like that between the narrator and characters in any of the other episodes, but then again Postgate never liked to do things the same way twice.

Sharing this from the Smallfilms Facebook page: A lovely mix of classic stories and not so familiar ones, I thought. Bluebell's Christmas Mission was actually published way back in 2009 with all the initial proceeds going to support an animal charity, so it's nice to see it being revived for a good cause yet again - and read by the author to boot. You can find Christopher 's review of it earlier in this thread: sodorislandforums.com/post/160079That being said, my personal favourite of the bunch was this one: Never heard this particular story before, and I find Ms. Ruth's performance delightfully soothing, fitting the mood of the piece perfectly. She'd be a great choice of narrator if Ivor ever returns to TV.
Speaking of reboots and revivals, Quintet Pictures (who produced the audios shared above) has this little teaser about a live-action Ivor film on their website: It's been talked about on and off for years, but let's hope it happens this time.

Has there been anymore updates on the other Black and White episodes? It's been ages since they were found. I hope we get some sort of remaster of them as there's been talks about that movie announced a while ago.

Sorry for double posting, but recently there's a DVD box set that would have remasters of the 1970s episodes, something I was hoping for since my last post here from a year ago. (whenever or not it'll be the edits from he last DVDs or not, time will tell). Also on the Amazon listing, they'll have the Black and White episodes including the first six on how Ivor got his whistle, and the original 26 that were found in Oliver's pig shed from years ago. I really want to get this, but sadly it's only for the UK.
