In this thread, any fans of Scooby-Doo may throw in a word, or two, or three, or four... And while at it, why not throw put in a vote for your favourite incarnation of good ol' Scoob? My favourite is definitely "What's New Scooby-Doo", but I'm also a big fan of the first three shows listed. Shows not in the list are "Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics" and "The Scooby-Doo & Dynomutt Hour", but they don't strictly count as real Scooby shows. And a word of warning, don't get me started on Scrappy... Evil! Evil! So yes, basically I don't like him all too much, actually I don't like him at all. As soon as he was thrown off that train onto the station platform, the whole Scooby franchise traveled down a long hill. "Scooby-Doo Kids" was a good step in the right direction, but it wouldn't be until 1998 that Scooby would return in full form. In that year, the "Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island" film was released, and it was clear that Scooby-Doo was truly back with a vengeance. And since, Scooby has led a successful run with more movies and "What's New Scooby-Doo?"
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!"

I like Scooby Doo but I don't watch the Scrappy episodes (Yes I find him that irritating). The first movie was good, especially for the Scrappy haters.
I quite like "What's new Scooby Doo" I have noticed a change in Fred. He has a different personality in "What's new Scooby Doo" He's less inteligent from the previous series.

Isn't the Scooby Doo Kids show called "A Pup Named Scooby Doo"? Anyway, I voted for the original. It wasn't even really all that great, but all the alterations and new versions HB did in the 70's and 80's were much more lame. I didn't mind the 13 ghosts one for some reason, possibly because of the cool theme song and the awesome episode (which I still have, taped off TV) where they go inside the comics page of a newspaper, and meet Platypus Duck! ;D But that show DID have both Scrappy AND Flim-Flam (where the heck did he/she come from?!) who were both incredibly annoying. I also liked the theme song for the 1984 version that featured just Scooby, Scrappy, Shaggy and Daphne. I think it may have been "The New Scooby Doo Mysteries". I notice that the late 70's-early 80's versions all sort of had the same Scooby Doo theme, but remixed. Anyhow, "What's New Scooby Doo?" seems to be aimed at a different audience than the original, and the tone, style and music are all different. Plus, they've updated the setting, obviously. I don't like it that much, because I find Good Charlotte, or Green Day, or whoever the band is that does most of the music, to be very annoying.

I don't like the music being interspersed into What's New Scooby-Doo, old Scooby Doo episodes were fine without them.
Does anyone read "The Funday Times", a children's supplement included with teh Sunday Times in the UK. They feature Scooby-Doo comics in there. They also serve to explain why Scrappy isn't in the new series (he was around for one or two strips before he ended up winning hotels in one strip. Now I don't know what that meant since it was a few years ago, but obviously Scrappy needed to look after them. He is last seen saying "As for you Scrappy, you won hotels" and then vanishes (which is a tip of the hat to the case in the strip which involved a guy who used holograms for his getaways). Scooby is seen running after him, but by the next strip he doesn't appear, and hasn't since).

I've heard of the shows, but never really seen them. What exactly was Scrappy Doo's character? I seem to recal Chris saying that Norman Price from 'Fireman Sam' has recently turned into a sort of Scrappy Doo and is just as annoying.

Scrappy was just a boisterous, hyper active puppy who always wanted to fight the ghosts. He takes centre stage when he comes along. Fred,Velma and Daphnie are hardly in it when he comes. I think the writers were relying on him to boost their ratings. He even got his own segment.

When people refer to a Scrappy Doo-like character being introduced, they mean that the character is extremely annoying, and (in most cases) hogs the spotlight often, and was added simply to be popular with kids, who are apparently often entertained by what mature people find annoying.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies were my favorite. I remember when Cartoon Network would air them Sunday afternoons. Ah, good times indeed. Second would be A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, mainly because it was just a crazy, stupid-funny kind of show. The original takes third for me.

I never really liked Scooby Doofus (As what a friend of mine refers to him as) But I would watch it when nothing else was on. Those movies with the celebrities were okay, except the 45,000 times they met Batman, The Joker was no longer a psychotic murdering madman, but a petty criminal who had been reduced to scare tactics. Of course I'm going to wonder why when the characters talk, all they do is move their heads up and down. Finally the backrounds... *When running from weird villain in costume* Fred: Hey, wait a minute, didn't we already pass that suit of armor and painting? Velma: Wait.....we did! What?

Scooby Doo isn't my favorite show in the world. No, that would be Shinning Time Station. I like the original "Where are you?".

I like the two new Scooby Doo movies. I thought they were funny. I like the first one very great when I saw it at theatres when I was 12. The second movie was cool too.

I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of Scooby Doo, if only because it used the same basic plot in every episode. And then it was a success, so Hanna-Barbara reused the scenario of kids-and-wacky-sidekick-solving-mysteries about a hundred times. I'm thinking Jabberjaw, Funky Phantom, Speed Buggy - they even did the same thing when they got the rights to the Addams Family.

Funky Phantom rings a bell. I remember one scooby doo series they had a special guest in each one which include Addams family, Laurel and Hardey and Batman and Robin. Penguin and Joker appear in that episode. There's a new Scooby doo series which is just about to be released in America but it only has Scooby and Shaggy. The other three only have special guest roles. The other bad thing is that Casey Kasem doesn't voice Shaggy in this series.
