Surprisingly, I’ve heard that one of the SIF members is on the Autism Spectrum. Can somebody please tell who they are? I'd imagine, as opposed to just having one member who is openly Autistic, it's actually a considerable portion of our membership that is on the Autistic spectrum. I wouldn't really consider it anyone else's place to declare who on the forums is on the Autistic spectrum, really, though. There's no register of that sort of thing. However, a read through of the previous posts in this thread will let you know which previous posters have stated that they themselves are on the spectrum.

I'm diagnosed with Aspergers, but I have no idea if that explains my love for Thomas or not.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 4, close to the age I discovered TTTE videos. Based on when we got our VCR TV and Shining Time Station being my favorite show when I was almost 6, I was 4 or 5 when I found TTTE.

I actually think I have undiagnosed autism because I have so many of the traits associated with it. I've actually wondered this about myself for some years now but was always uncomfortable with admitting it because it felt...wrong to think this. I don't mean wrong to think I have autism, but like I was self-diagnosing myself with it.
But then I learned that it's actually not uncommon for gender diverse like myself to suspect that they have undiagnosed autism (and gender diverse people have a higher rate of autism than the general population), so that made me feel comfortable with admitting this about myself.
Now I still say 'I think I might have it' because I don't want to self-diagnose, instead I want to see a specialist about it so I can learn if I actually do have autism or not. I am planning on setting up a check-up with my doctor at some point this year and I will ask them to recommend me a specialist to talk about this when I visit them.

Question: I was diagnosed with OCD over a decade ago, and I've known I've had it for even longer. But I've also suspected I might be on the spectrum for a little while now, though very high-functioning. I recently read somewhere that not only are people on the spectrum far more likely to have OCD than the general public, but that many times people with autism or Aspergers are misdiagnosed as having OCD. Can anyone attest to that? While I'm sure I have OCD, I do wonder if I also fit into the spectrum, and as a result, also have OCD. Just a thought.
