Excercise bikes make me queasy. And I hate their design. Every time I'm on one I get an image and hear the track of Miss Gulch riding her bike in the Wizard of Oz. Speaking of weight loss - the latest fad I've seen in my city are people getting Vitamin b-12 injections. Injections are recommended as taking it orally simply gets passed through your urine since the digestive system can't absorb it. It allegedly is supposed to increase your metabolism. Have any members heard about this in your part of the world?

I go to the gym three times a week. (Especially important, since I now have Carys to keep myself sexy for.) I also used to do Karate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but thanks to collage hours, and having to work experience in the Restaurant, I can only make Karate on Saturdays now. Luckily, the gym has an empty fitness studio (for classes in the evenings) that I can used to practise my techniques.
Any day when I don't go to the gym, I just do some push-ups and crunches at home.

Well, any dieting I've done this week has been slaughtered by my eating of an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I had the initial craving a few hours ago, so I went to the store and bought some, planning on having just one small bowl, which turned into a second, which turned into me eating it straight from the bucket.
In my defense, I haven't eaten "real" food in the longest time, so I was feeling pretty desperate.

I usually keep healthy by walking everywere, and I eat a good balanced diet. I've given up smoking cos atm I have gastric flu and needing a cig is the last thing on my mind really. I always catch gastric flu though and its really awful, cos I feel so drained

I do want to join a gym at some point, but due to the lack of money I have I'll need a job first before I join a gym.
Although when I go to college, I take one bus to the main place I have to go to get to college and then I walk the rest of the way. I also walk to the bus stop I have to go to also, I even walk to the high street for lunch also when at college.
Alot of students at my college get the bus, but I think walking is better for your health and the fact that you could be stuck in traffic for god knows how long and plus Buses get crowded. Also due to the fact that I do media in college, we get to travel to different places in London instead of being stuck in a classroom all day and being bored silly so I get plenty of fresh air if we're filming outdoors (Also depending on the weather).
Sometimes I would love to go out more, even just for a run but I either forget, can't be bothered or wonder if people stare at me and sometimes there are dodgy people about these days.

I used to go to Track & Field for my school, but at least I'm still an athlete right now, so hopefully I win my races this year because last year I was so close on the last day. Anyways, I also eat healthy foods too, work out at my school at the weight room, & ride my bike during the summer. It's a great task for me is to stay fit & healthy from preventing flus from the flu season!

I have my own exercise bike which I actually enjoy using and I'm hoping to get a treadmill for a bit of variety...right now I walk everywhere (if the weather permits) if I can. I would go jogging but I hate the fact that it feels a bit like everyone is staring at you, and also I am a rubbish runner.

Even though I would like to go jogging at some point, like you I'm also bothered about people staring at me and also certain types of Dogs (i.e. Pit Bulls and Bull Terriers, those sort of Dogs), some people just don't seem to realize that these sort of Dogs are fighting type not pet and are dangerous (especially round children). And I'm also a rubbish runner, I watched myself after my media group and I did some filming of me and another guy running. I was really rubbish, although at the time my foot was hurting. But the other guy, he was running like a gay. Although I think jogging does improve your running, I mean you don't use all your energy in one go and each time you jog you start to go further and further each time.

Had some awful news regarding health. At college the news in the smoking corner was how the nurse has some device to test the age of yr lungs, now for months iv had chest pains which i thought were to do with stress. Go to the nurse and get tested
my lungs work at the age of a 62yr olds lungs I'm packing up smoking anyway, its awful. I feel so scared that my lungs could give way, but there must be a fault as I know a girl, smokes 3 cigs a day and is a champion tennis player for the college n all this, yet her lungs age are over 100.
:S Its weird, but I'm scared cos how long will I live for now? I've a feeling that if I keep smoking it won't be long. ever been faced with yr own mortality? its weird. very weird.

hahah I'll never forget when I went running at home on the new track + football field they had redone this past summer. There was some old guy there taking pictures of the field, and I swear everywhere his camera was aimed was in my direction. So I passed by him one lap and I took out my earphone and was like "Hope you're getting my good side," His reply, "Every side is your good side." Then he was gone! And I never saw those pictures appear in any publication ever. Hahah so many good track-jogging stories. Old men and jogging is wrong. Next to my college is the new stadium they're building for Leigh, cos its in the sports village. We see either old men on the running track, or coming past the path to the Flash further along the rd, while we're outside on our breaks..they get hassle off the sports students and the builders. but they ask for it, wearing the daftest clothes.

There's this boxing gym next to my apartment but I don't go there that often, mostly since boxing isn't my type of sport, but I do (or would like) to go there since they have treadmills. I just take a mountain hike after school's over (with my backpack still on my shoulder) and relieve all the stesses of school (and life itself). Though if it's during the rain that's another thing.

TBH i don't go out as much, although i would like to do some outside exercises, but I'd feel better if someone was also doing it with me.
I haven't been doing alot of exercises in my life I've always been skinny, but I've always wanted to be more muscular, which i think many of you guys do too. since turning 16 i started doing push ups. in June my brother bought some weights, while he was at school and i was on my Yr 11 break i have been secretly using them. In August my dad bought a cross trainer, and a weights machine. I've been using them ever since, I do look more muscular than i used to.
I also do some neck stretches, its a good way to warm up. but my real problem is sit-ups i have back problems that stop me from doing them, its a real pain.

I was unaware...
If(Gasp!) I do anything pre-exercise, it will only ever be stretching. And that's only to make my trainers happy.
Personally, I don't find I get much out of neck stretches, apart from a sore neck. I'd rather swing my arms or something.
But then, I do stupid things.

where do i begin? well december 2008 i noticed that i had a large swelling just over the size of my fist somewhere where the sun doesn't shine (i didn't say anything to my mum and dad till after i broke up for the christmas holidays)... well all the doctors i saw thought it was all fluid and thought it would be allright... they were wrong!!! i went to florida at the end of march - till mid april and i had a hospital operation on it 3 days after i came home... well it turned out there was something that shouldn't have been there... it was tumour... (at first i was hoping it wasn't going to be cancer) well i ended up on 6 months of really aggressive chemotherapy at queens medical center in nottingham a 2 hour drive from home... well my weight plummeted as i couldn't eat anything for quite some time as i didn't have a taste for anything well i finished the agressive chemo in november 2008 after i started it in may 2008... well in october 2008 i had a big operation to remove bits of tumour which was a success and i had 5 weeks of radiotherapy from december 15th till mid january... i did get christmas off though which was a good thing... well i had 6 more months of maintenance chemo which boosts your good cells back up again... in june this year i got the best birthday present ever by being given a date for when i finished all the treatment... all i ask for now is a nice normal life the tumour i had is called... RHABDOMYOSARCOMA which is a sort of soft tissue cancer and i can say that the ward i stayed on was one of the nicest ones as i was on a childrens ward as i was 16 when i started all the treatment and 18 when i came off it all... also the nurses were quite fun to have a joke with aswell

I recently went to a new recreational center that opened up a while ago. I'm hoping to go again so I can get a great workout. I've also been using an elliptical that's been in my parents' bedroom for quite some time.

Besides walking the dog, my exercise routine consists of: stretching, 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, and toe-touching. Or at least, I try to touch my toes as best I can, but it's still a hard job. I try to do this every morning almost without fail, and while I know I should do more, I still feel proud of myself that I've managed to make it a daily routine.

Since 2010, I've been running three mile jogs around various areas of my hometown, and recently I've been taking spinning classes 2-3 times a week for the last three months or so. I've lost about 15-20 excess pounds over the years thanks to this. Sometimes my schoolwork can get in the way of my exercise routine, but my schedule is pretty consistent for the most part. One of these days I want to try and start taking weight lifting classes to put some muscle on my bony little arms

Its been over 7 years since I've posted here, and I can say that so much has happened regarding my health and fitness - so where do I begin.
In 2012 after 10 years, I decided to take up swimming again - purely on Doctor's advice after some health occurrences I had towards the end of 2011 and pretty much throughout 2012 until a final diagnosis came in 2013. Although my Doctor at the time (Hospital Doctor not my GP Doctor) suggested jogging, I decided to go for swimming instead as I'd thought it would be better for me as when I was a Kid I was pretty good at it (not brilliant, but average as I refer to myself as).
So since then, despite suffering from two dislocated shoulders in 2014 doing swimming - both from freak accidents i.e. jumping in at the deep end and then doing backstroke (which I avoid doing now as a paramedic once said to me that your arms go in quite a awkward position when you do backstroke) so now I mainly do breaststroke. Other than that, I'm really enjoying swimming again and I can't think why I seemed to have had a disliking it for so long (unless it was during a particular phase I had gone through way back when), but sometimes I've felt like I could just keep doing it all-day - though I would have to leave eventually as it can wear you out.
Of course I still enjoy walking of course, often find its so much more soothing than getting a bus or even a train if I can just walk to a certain location as I don't drive. Plus I'm even fairly cautious on what I eat nowadays also following an annual blood test that I have at my local GP, where the Nurse there gave me a list of various things that I would be better off eating (I only have chocolate on certain occasions as well as at Christmas or Easter, but I don't have it on a daily basis as I may have used too and temptation does tend to hit me - I feel like I don't really miss it).

When I was in college, I lived in New York City, so I walked everywhere. Since graduating a few years ago, I've steadily put on the weight I lost and then some. We have a dog, so I walk her when I get home from work, and twice a day on the weekend. At work, I get 30 minutes for lunch, so I try to eat in the first 10 and then go for a brisk/leisurely walk the rest. I do it rain or shine, the only exceptions being if it's really stormy, really hot, or really cold (we had a few days of single digit weather in the Northeast, and even I wouldn't do walk in that). Everyone at my company knows I do it, and sometimes it's a little embarrassing when I'm asked "you go for your walk yet." I'm sure they mean well, but it feels like they might be making fun of me.
It's a very small contribution to health, and I should do more, given my weak heart, but a little is better than nothing.
