Nope, it's spelt Terror Bird. It was a class of birds that stood from three to ten feet tall, and they ate meat... Look at that skull...Dios mio...What if the chicken that laid the egg was one of those?

Ah yes, the famous phorusrhacidae (hastily minimises Wikipedia window). If the chicken that laid the egg was one of those, then the question would not be so much "which came first?" but "how fast can we get away?"
"Roarr! These humans are feather lickin' good!"

Hows about looking at it from a religious perspective? Didn't God put animals on the Earth, and not food items or embryos? Thus, I argue the Chicken. Plus it's first in the poll as well Well said CPK. While I shall resist the temptation to monolouge about how ridiculous the idea is that something would "evolve" into something as useless(Exept for eating, of course) as a chicken, I will still vote for it. No offense intended to the religious community(I count Evolution as a religion(Religion is defined in my dictionary as belief in the unseen, so that would fit...(Once again, no offense meant))... Well said CPK, and well said Warrior, I agree with both of you. Alot of evolutionary theory that is pushed as fact is relying on things that are not testable, repeatable and observable, relying on faith. To me Evolution requires more faith to believe it than it does God. Initial Evolution: In the beginning there was nothing, then nothing exploded and made everything, 0+0=.......0 Christian creationist (me), Initial begining: In the beginning(Time), God created the (space)Heavan and the Earth(matter). If God created time then it means he is outside the created timeline thus being eternal and seeing the future (prophecy) and if he created matter then that means he isn't material and is spiritual and that is how matter came from supposedly nothing. - Makes sence to me. Not going to change the thread into something it's not, here's my view. -- The Chicken with all other life was created with all the information in the DNA for repruducing chickens. A male and a femal chicken mated and made an egg, that later made a chicken. Eggs do not produce eggs, but chickens produce eggs that later transform into chickens. So I voted that the chicken came 1st. EDIT: Just thought, you need a chicken to incubate and look after the egg before it hatches too.

Man I cannot express how much I don't want to get into that argument again. So I just ate the chicken and the egg. Both at the same time.

I'm sticking with the biological argument. Every new species is a result of DNA changing, either because two animals came together to create an offspring of a new variety, or because of some mutation that happened between the zygote and the final baby.
Therefore, the egg came first.
